When World War II ended 80 years ago, the fighting ended but global stability and peace did not emerge. Instead, a "Cold War" between the forces of capitalism and communism, represented by the U.S. and Soviet Union, dominated global politics and led to instability, interventions, wars, a militarized economy, a mass-surveillance National Security State, and so much more---and its legacy continued to this day as we look at Venezuela, Palestine, Iran, and other places across the globe.The U.S. posed the Cold War as a battle between "freedom" and Soviet domination, but that was always a ruse as the Americans held overwhelming dominance in all major military and economic matters.
