#822025/05/22(木)~ Do you say “Do you have a new one?”~皆さんは、服や靴をお店で買うとき、「新しいのはありますか?」と店員さんに聞きますか?ディスプレイされているものではなく、誰も触っていない新しいもの、という意味です。これは生徒さんに聞いた話なのですが、その方が住んでいた国では、新しいものがあるかどうか聞く習慣がなかったそうです。そう聞くと、店にあるものが中古だと言っているように聞こえるそうです。皆さんの国ではどうですか?みなさんは、ふくや くつを おみせで かうとき、「あたらしいのは ありますか?」と てんいんさんに ききますか?でぃすぷれいされているものではなく、だれも さわっていない あたらしいもの、といういみです。これは せいとさんに きいた はなしなのですが、そのかたが すんでいた くにでは、あたらしいものが あるかどうか きく しゅうかんが なかったそうです。そう きくと、みせに あるものが ちゅうこだと いっているように きこえるそうです。みなさんの くにでは どうですか?When you buy clothes or shoes at the store, do you ask them, “Do you have any new ones?”That mean, you want new ones, not the ones on display that no one has touched.This is a story I heard from one of my students.
