You'd think that having the degrees, the years of experience, the expertise in your area would mean you've MADE it, right? I mean, all of your professional goals have come true, and you've gotten so far! Only… to realise that you're either not recognised for it, you're bored with what you do, or you don't even quite know what you actually want to contribute. In fact, getting the first few big runs on the board, from degrees to promotions to big projects seem daunting first but in hindsight, it's a walk in the park for what's next - and that's the transition from being the technical expert and executer to becoming the trusted authority, the executive in your field who's known, recognised and of course trusted for their thought leadership on the topic, not just their ability to do the work. I know, because I've been there myself.
