#95 LAUNCH: Redefining with Madison Thomas

from LAUNCH Podcast with Allison Michels · host Allison Michels

“We can build confidence within ourselves by taking small actions each day to prove to ourselves we’ll do it.” - Madison Thomas In this episode, Allison Liddle interviews Madison Thomas.  Madison lives and works in Nashville, TN. She was born with a rare physical deformity called Proximal Femoral Focal Deficiency. This meant that by the time she would be fully developed, her left leg would be about a foot shorter than her right. This extreme deficiency caused many doctors to recommend amputation, but a doctor in Minneapolis decided he would take on the difficult case. After thirty-two surgeries, her leg was successfully lengthened and reconstructed. Over the years and the surgeries, she learned a number of lessons about resiliency, persistence, humility, patience, dedication, relationships, and so on, but one of the most important lessons she learned was redefining the way she saw her identity in her scars and in beauty. Madison and Allison discuss how to build confidence, being vulnerable, and improving self and body image. Madison shares about the most important lessons she learned during her journey were redefining the way she saw her identity in her scars and in beauty.
