“当时这类黄色书籍是被禁止的，但是越是禁止，越是好卖。还有一些暴力的，来自日本的” 和中文书打交道70载，杨善才说，早年的大型书店除了售卖教科书，也卖各种各类的书籍，不过不会卖黄色书籍，虽然销量很好，售卖这些禁书的一般是小型书店、夜市小贩或者售卖文具的一些商店。 80年代，杨善才在锦茂一带的组屋区租了两个单位经营新育书店和育才书店，后来以胜友书局的名义出版了一套10本的少年优秀读物，以简体字印刷的版本，推出后大受欢迎，让杨善才赚了第一桶金。这个系列就包括了《一个女性的成功记》、《苦女成功记》、《聪儿苦学记》等等。 为了纪念当年读过的小学课本，还有东南亚的教育制度，杨善才重新印刷了当年世界书局出版的小学国语读本，捐出了差不多一千套给国家图书馆。 当年的黄色书籍是以文字还是图画为主呢？这类书籍来自哪些国家?
