A Conversation with LEONA BERLIN

Berlin-based singer and producer LEONA BERLIN fascinates with her atmospherically dense alternative R’n’B. Inspired by her roots in hip hop and soul, she crosses genre boundaries with natural ease and creates her own sound universe, moving between passionate, emotional melodies and groovy dance tracks. Leona’s lyrics always contain personal insights that have touched and inspired many people. „My top priority is to be authentic without having to fit in a box. I think that in today’s social media-dominated time, more depth and honesty are needed.” She writes and produces her songs herself, influenced and supported by her closest team. With her unique style, her passionate singing and her open nature, she gives the listener a deep insight into her world. Following her debut with Warner Music in 2018 she has collaborated with artists such as Snoop Dogg and Ray Angry from The Roots. Her second album titled “Change” (November 2021) features contributions from NYC rapper Stimulus and LA keyboardist Rob Araujo earning a spot on the German Record Critics Award” bestlist for 2022. Other artists Leona collaborated with include Casey Benjamin (Robert Glaser Experiemnt), Gregory Hutchinson and Karriem Riggins, which testify to her incredible musical range as a singer, songwriter and producer. Her third studio album is underway with three singles already released and more following in the coming months. Leona has graced various stages like Women of the World Festival, TEDx, and Xjazz Festival and supported acts like Al Jarreau, Lisa Stansfield and PJ Morton, leaving a lasting impression on her audiences.
