A dovish hike sets the tone. We will sing along.

from Markets, Mystics and Mayhem · host Kiwibank

The Reserve Bank delivered a 25-basis point hike, taking the interest rate to 2.75%, as expected. But we are happy that they are looking at the future through a more dovish lens. Export-supported regions and sectors have performed well. Consumer spending on the other hand, not so much. A strengthening of the economic recovery is important, but we're still waiting for it to broaden, too. A soft labour market is key to this RBNZ decision, and for the next two meetings coming up this year. Unemployment data looks grim. And over one in six young people in the labour force were unemployed in the June quarter.Hosted by Jarrod Kerr, Alexandra Turcu and Elliott Lowe.
