A former wedding planner who starts a new journey... Meet Author Sandy Malone

from Keepin It Real w/Caramel "As We Say 100" · host Caramel Lucas

I had the pleasure of chatting with Sandy, and let me tell you, her energy is contagious! I could easily spend all day talking to her. We had such a relaxed vibe, which made for an incredibly enjoyable conversation. She shared a hilarious story from her days as a wedding planner seriously, it was too wild to be made up! Sandy and her husband, Bill, organized over 500 destination weddings in the Caribbean during an incredible 11-year run before Hurricane Maria changed everything. They've witnessed some jaw-dropping moments that most genteel families wouldn't dare mention after the celebration ends. Now, she's pivoted from planning to penning a fictional series about a wedding planner who must rebuild her life on another island post-storm, drawing on all the outrageous experiences from the weddings they managed. And don't fret it's all fictionalized to keep the characters safe! With her extensive knowledge of destination weddings, Sandy has written countless articles featured on renowned wedding platforms like BRIDES, WeddingWire, and HuffPost's Wedding page.Sandy Malone hosted a captivating podcast for several years titled "Wedding Reality Check with Sandy Malone." In 2016, she released a DIY wedding planning guide called "How to Plan Your Own Destination Wedding: Tips from An Experienced Professional," published by Skyhorse Publishing. Additionally, she has ghostwritten two books for prominent reality TV personalities, including Housewife. Together with her husband, Bill, Sandy appeared on TLC’s reality series "Wedding Island," which showcased their business in the enchanting Vieques, Puerto Rico. Sandy's journey began with a degree in journalism from Ohio State University, leading her to a role at Campaigns & Elections Magazine, where she climbed the ranks to Managing Editor. She later contributed to the Wall Street Journal, writing the Politics.Net column. Most recently, she served as Editor in Chief of both Blue Lives Matter and The Police Tribune. Sandy and her husband, a retired SWAT commander, now call Jekyll Island, Georgia home, where they live with their beloved coonhound, Sherlock. Both are proud natives of Washington, D.C.
