A New Generation & Great Forgiveness: Numbers 26–27 and the Alabaster Flask (Day 88)

What does it look like to be counted by God? Today in Numbers, we see a second census—a counting of the new generation that survived the wilderness and is now preparing to enter the Promised Land. We also see God's justice in action through the daughters of Zelophehad. In the New Testament, we move from the "numbers" of a nation to the heart of an individual, as a woman with a "sinful" reputation interrupts a Pharisee’s dinner to wash Jesus’ feet with her tears.Today’s Scripture:📖 Numbers 26–27:11 – Forty years after the first census at Sinai, the new generation is numbered on the plains of Moab. Not one man from the original census remained, except Joshua and Caleb. We also see a landmark legal ruling as the daughters of Zelophehad petition for their father’s inheritance.📖 Luke 7:36–50 – While dining at the house of Simon the Pharisee, Jesus is anointed by a woman with an alabaster flask of perfume.
