Dark Days and the Divine Light: Judges 18–19 and John 8 (Day 134)
How dark can things get when everyone does what is right in their own eyes? Today we enter one of the most difficult and graphic portions of the Old Testament. In Judges, we see the tribe of Dan abandon their God-given inheritance to steal a priest and an idol, followed by the harrowing account of a Levite and his concubine in Gibeah. These stories serve as a visceral reminder of what happens when a society abandons its moral compass. In the Gospel of John, we find the remedy for such darkness. Jesus stands in the Temple and declares, "I am the light of the world," promising that whoever follows Him will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life.Today’s Scripture:📖 Judges 18–19 – The tribe of Dan, seeking a territory of their own, steals Micah’s carved image and his priest before destroying the peaceful city of Laish. Chapter 19 records a dark turning point for Israel: a Levite and his concubine are met with extreme wickedness in the city of Gibeah—an event so shocking that it mirrors the sins of Sodom and Gomorrah and shakes the entire nation.📖 John 8:12–30 – In the Treasury of the Temple, Jesus continues His teaching during the Feast. He identifies Himself as the Light of the World and warns that those who do not believe He is "I Am" will die in their sins. Despite the mounting tension, many who hear Him begin to believe.📖 Psalm 60:5–12 – David appeals to God's ownership of the land, listing the regions that belong to Him. He concludes with a powerful prayer for help against the foe: "With God we shall do valiantly; it is he who will tread down our foes."RESOURCES & READ-ALONG 📺 Watch on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLYKi8-_5xHGL_nFAZOthHtZhcb4CqW4ZF 📖 Follow the Text (LEB): https://biblia.com/books/leb/ 🗓️ Download the Full Plan: https://www.biblica.com/resources/reading-plans/CONNECT & SUPPORT 📧 Questions? Broken Strength and Beautiful Grace: Samson’s End & The Woman Caught in Adultery (Day 133)
What happens when our secret compromises finally catch up to us? Today in the Book of Judges, we reach the climax of Samson’s story. Despite his incredible strength, his lack of self-control leads him into the hands of Delilah. We watch as he is blinded and mocked, only to find one last moment of strength in his death. In the Gospel of John, we see a different kind of drama. The religious leaders attempt to trap Jesus using a woman caught in adultery as bait. Instead of falling into their legalistic snare, Jesus mirrors the heart of God by offering a path of grace that neither condemns nor ignores the sin.Today’s Scripture:📖 Judges 16–17 – Samson falls in love with Delilah, who systematically wears him down until he reveals the secret of his strength. Captured and blinded by the Philistines, Samson’s final act is to pull down the temple of Dagon, killing more enemies in his death than in his life. Chapter 17 introduces Micah, whose personal idol-worship illustrates the deepening spiritual decay of Israel.📖 John 7:45–8:11 – While the Temple guards return empty-handed, awestruck by Jesus’ words, the Pharisees bring a woman caught in adultery to Him. Jesus stoops to write in the dirt, challenging the accusers: "Let him who is without sin among you be the first to throw a stone." One by one, they leave, and Jesus tells the woman, "Neither do I condemn you; go, and from now on sin no more."📖 Psalm 60:1–4 – A prayer for restoration after defeat. David acknowledges that God has "rejected us and broken our defenses," yet he asks for a banner to be displayed for those who fear God, that they may be delivered.RESOURCES & READ-ALONG 📺 Watch on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLYKi8-_5xHGL_nFAZOthHtZhcb4CqW4ZF 📖 Follow the Text (LEB): https://biblia.com/books/leb/ 🗓️ Download the Full Plan: https://www.biblica.com/resources/reading-plans/CONNECT & SUPPORT 📧 Questions? Strength, Riddles, and Living Water: Samson and Jesus (Day 132)
Where does true strength come from? Today in the Book of Judges, we follow the beginning of Samson’s public life. Though he is a Nazirite set apart for God, Samson’s story is a whirlwind of impulsive desires, violent outbursts, and clever riddles. We see him tear a lion apart and strike down thirty men over a bet, proving that while the Spirit of the Lord gives him power, his character remains a work in progress. In the Gospel of John, Jesus stands in the Temple during the Feast of Booths. As the priests perform the ritual water pouring, Jesus cries out with a different kind of power: the offer of "Living Water" to anyone who thirsts.Today’s Scripture:📖 Judges 14–15 – Samson insists on marrying a Philistine woman, leading to a wedding feast defined by a riddle about a lion and honey. When his wife betrays the answer, it sparks a cycle of revenge involving burning grain fields and a battle at Lehi, where Samson kills a thousand men with the jawbone of a donkey.📖 John 7:14–44 – Jesus arrives halfway through the Feast and begins to teach. The crowd is divided: some believe He is the Christ, while others want to arrest Him. On the last day of the feast, Jesus invites those who are thirsty to come to Him, promising that "rivers of living water" will flow from within those who believe.📖 Proverbs 11:29–12:7 – Wisdom for our daily conduct: "Whoever troubles his own household will inherit the wind." Solomon reminds us that "a good man obtains favor from the Lord" and that the "root of the righteous will never be moved."RESOURCES & READ-ALONG📺 Watch on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLYKi8-_5xHGL_nFAZOthHtZhcb4CqW4ZF📖 Follow the Text (LEB): https://biblia.com/books/leb/🗓️ Download the Full Plan: https://www.biblica.com/resources/reading-plans/CONNECT & SUPPORT📧 Questions? Words of Life and Tests of Loyalty: Jephthah, Samson, and the Twelve (Day 131)
Will you stay when the message gets difficult? Today in the Book of Judges, we see the tragic fallout of internal strife as a "password" becomes a matter of life and death for the tribes of Israel. Amidst this chaos, a glimmer of hope appears as the Angel of the Lord visits a barren couple to announce the birth of Samson—a child set apart from birth to begin the rescue from the Philistines. In the Gospel of John, we witness a mass departure. Many of Jesus' followers find His teaching too hard to accept and turn back, prompting Jesus to ask the Twelve: "Do you want to go away as well?"Today’s Scripture:📖 Judges 12–13 – The men of Ephraim pick a fight with Jephthah, leading to a civil war where the word "Shibboleth" is used as a phonetic test to identify enemies. After a period of minor judges, the scene shifts to the birth of Samson. His parents are given strict instructions for his Nazirite vow, marking him as holy to God from the womb.📖 John 6:60–7:13 – Following the "Bread of Life" discourse, many disciples grumble and leave. Peter, however, delivers a beautiful confession: "Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life." We then see Jesus' brothers mocking His ministry as He prepares to go secretly to the Feast of Booths in Jerusalem.📖 Psalm 59:9–17 – David concludes his prayer with a song of morning praise. Even while enemies prowl the city like howling dogs, David sings of God's strength: "For you have been to me a fortress and a refuge in the day of my distress."RESOURCES & READ-ALONG 📺 Watch on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLYKi8-_5xHGL_nFAZOthHtZhcb4CqW4ZF 📖 Follow the Text (LEB): https://biblia.com/books/leb/ 🗓️ Download the Full Plan: https://www.biblica.com/resources/reading-plans/CONNECT & SUPPORT 📧 Questions? Jephthah’s Tragic Promise & The Bread of Life Discourse | Day 130
What are we truly hungry for, and what are we willing to sacrifice to get it? Today in the Book of Judges, we see Israel once again crying out in distress. We meet Jephthah, an outcast turned deliverer, whose military brilliance is overshadowed by a rash and heartbreaking vow. In the Gospel of John, the crowd that Jesus fed yesterday catches up to Him, seeking more physical bread. Jesus pivots the conversation to the eternal, identifying Himself as the "Bread of Life" and challenging them to "eat His flesh and drink His blood"—a teaching so radical it begins to sift His followers.Today’s Scripture:📖 Judges 10–11 – After the minor judges Tola and Jair, Israel falls into deep idolatry and is oppressed by the Ammonites. They turn to Jephthah, a social outcast and mighty warrior. Jephthah attempts diplomacy but ultimately leads Israel to victory—though his success is marred by a vow that costs him his only daughter.📖 John 6:25–59 – Jesus delivers the "Bread of Life" discourse in the synagogue at Capernaum. He explains that just as manna sustained Israel in the wilderness, He has come down from heaven to give eternal life. He emphasizes that true life is found only through a spiritual union with Him.📖 Psalm 59:1–8 – Another "Miktam of David," written when Saul sent men to watch his house in order to kill him. David prays for deliverance from his "bloodthirsty" enemies, acknowledging God as his "High Tower" and laughing at the plots of the wicked because he knows God’s strength.RESOURCES & READ-ALONG 📺 Watch on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLYKi8-_5xHGL_nFAZOthHtZhcb4CqW4ZF 📖 Follow the Text (LEB): https://biblia.com/books/leb/ 🗓️ Download the Full Plan: https://www.biblica.com/resources/reading-plans/CONNECT & SUPPORT 📧 Questions? The Rise of Abimelech & The Feeding of the 5,000 | Day 129
What kind of leader do we truly hunger for? Today in the Book of Judges, we see the disastrous consequences of seeking a king outside of God's timing. Abimelech, the son of Gideon, murders his brothers to seize power, leading to a dark chapter of civil strife and the prophetic "Parable of the Bramble." In the Gospel of John, we see a different kind of power. Jesus feeds a massive crowd with just five loaves and two fish. When the people try to take Him by force to make Him a king, He withdraws, proving that His Kingdom is not of this world—even as He demonstrates His authority by walking on the stormy sea.Today’s Scripture:📖 Judges 9 – Abimelech conspires with the leaders of Shechem to kill the seventy sons of Gideon. Only Jotham escapes, delivering a scathing parable about a "bramble" bush that becomes king because the fruitful trees refuse the position. The chapter ends with the violent downfall of Abimelech, fulfilling Jotham’s curse.📖 John 6:1–24 – Jesus performs one of His most famous miracles, feeding 5,000 men (plus women and children) from a boy’s small lunch. After the crowd attempts to make Him king by force, Jesus retreats to a mountain. Later that night, the disciples encounter a storm on the Sea of Galilee, only to see Jesus walking on the water toward them, saying, "It is I; do not be afraid."📖 Psalm 58:1–11 – A bold cry for justice against corrupt rulers. David asks if leaders actually speak righteousness and prays for God to "break the teeth" of the wicked, concluding with the assurance that there is indeed a reward for the righteous and a God who judges the earth.RESOURCES & READ-ALONG 📺 Watch on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLYKi8-_5xHGL_nFAZOthHtZhcb4CqW4ZF 📖 Follow the Text (LEB): https://biblia.com/books/leb/ 🗓️ Download the Full Plan: https://www.biblica.com/resources/reading-plans/CONNECT & SUPPORT 📧 Questions? Victory by Faith & The Witnesses of Christ: Judges 7–8 and John 5 (Day 128)
What evidence is enough to make us believe? Today in the Book of Judges, we see one of the most unconventional military victories in history. Armed with nothing but trumpets, torches, and jars, Gideon’s 300 men throw the Midianite camp into a panic, proving that God does not need a large army to win a great war. In the Gospel of John, Jesus addresses those who refuse to believe in Him despite the evidence. He presents a "fourfold witness"—John the Baptist, His miracles, the Father Himself, and the Scriptures—challenging His listeners to see that all of history points to Him.Today’s Scripture:📖 Judges 7:8–8:35 – Gideon overhears a dream in the Midianite camp that confirms his victory. He executes a night surprise with 300 men that leads to a massive rout. However, the story ends on a complex note: while Gideon refuses to be made king, he creates a golden ephod that becomes a "snare" to Israel, showing how even great leaders can leave a mixed legacy.📖 John 5:31–47 – Jesus explains that He does not testify about Himself alone. He lists the witnesses that validate His ministry: the testimony of John the Baptist, the works (miracles) He performs, the voice of the Father, and the writings of Moses. He points out the irony of religious leaders who study the Law but miss the very Person the Law describes.📖 Proverbs 11:19–28 – Solomon continues his observations on the harvest of our character: "Whoever is steadfast in righteousness will live, but he who pursues evil will die." He reminds us that "whoever brings blessing will be enriched."RESOURCES & READ-ALONG 📺 Watch on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLYKi8-_5xHGL_nFAZOthHtZhcb4CqW4ZF 📖 Follow the Text (LEB): https://biblia.com/books/leb/ 🗓️ Download the Full Plan: https://www.biblica.com/resources/reading-plans/CONNECT & SUPPORT 📧 Questions? From Fear to Faith: The Call of Gideon & The Authority of the Son (Day 127)
How does God turn a "mighty man of valor" out of a man hiding in a winepress? Today in the Book of Judges, we see Israel oppressed by the Midianites, leading to the call of Gideon. We witness his hesitation, his request for signs, and the radical "downsizing" of his army as God prepares to show that the victory belongs to Him alone. In the Gospel of John, Jesus responds to the religious leaders who are persecuting Him for healing on the Sabbath. He doesn't back down; instead, He makes the stunning claim that He does exactly what He sees the Father doing, possessing the power to both judge and give life.Today’s Scripture:📖 Judges 6:1–7:8 – An angel of the Lord finds Gideon threshing wheat in a winepress to hide from the Midianites. Gideon destroys his father’s altar to Baal, tests God with a fleece of wool, and eventually gathers an army—which God promptly reduces from 32,000 men to just 300 to ensure Israel cannot boast in its own strength.📖 John 5:16–30 – Jesus defends His work on the Sabbath by explaining His unique relationship with God the Father. He declares that the Son can do nothing of His own accord but only what He sees the Father doing, asserting that whoever hears His word and believes has passed from death to life.📖 Psalm 57:7–11 – We conclude David's prayer with a soaring note of praise: "My heart is steadfast, O God... I will give thanks to you, O Lord, among the peoples." He prays for God's glory to be exalted over all the earth.RESOURCES & READ-ALONG 📺 Watch on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLYKi8-_5xHGL_nFAZOthHtZhcb4CqW4ZF 📖 Follow the Text (LEB): https://biblia.com/books/leb/ 🗓️ Download the Full Plan: https://www.biblica.com/resources/reading-plans/CONNECT & SUPPORT 📧 Questions? The Victory of Deborah & The Healing at Bethesda | Day 126
Does God still move when we feel paralyzed by our circumstances? Today in Judges, we meet Deborah, the only female judge, whose wisdom and courage spark a great deliverance for Israel. Alongside the warrior Jael, she proves that God can use the unexpected to bring down the mighty. In the Gospel of John, Jesus continues to demonstrate His authority over sickness and space. Whether healing an official’s son from miles away or commanding a man paralyzed for 38 years to "get up, take up your bed, and walk," Jesus shows that His word carries the power of the Creator.Today’s Scripture:📖 Judges 4–5 – Israel is oppressed by Jabin and his commander Sisera, who has 900 iron chariots. Deborah calls Barak to battle, and God grants a miraculous victory. The narrative is followed by the "Song of Deborah," a poetic masterpiece celebrating God's intervention and the unlikely heroism of Jael.📖 John 4:43–5:15 – Jesus returns to Cana and heals a royal official's son with a simple word. He then travels to Jerusalem to the Pool of Bethesda. On the Sabbath, He heals a man who had been invalid for nearly four decades, sparking the first major waves of controversy with the religious leaders regarding the Sabbath laws.📖 Psalm 57:1–6 – David cries out from a cave while fleeing Saul: "Be merciful to me, O God... for in you my soul takes refuge." The Cycle of Sin & The Harvest of Souls: Judges 2–3 and John 4 (Day 125)
Why do we keep falling back into the same traps? Today in the Book of Judges, we see the tragic cycle that will haunt Israel for generations: they abandon God, fall into oppression, cry out for help, and are rescued by a "judge," only to repeat the pattern once the leader dies. In the Gospel of John, however, we see the power of a single witness. The Samaritan woman’s testimony brings her entire village out to meet Jesus, leading to a harvest of souls that reminds us that the "fields are white" for those willing to see them.Today’s Scripture:📖 Judges 2:6–3:31 – We see the death of the generation that knew Joshua and the rise of a new generation that "did not know the Lord." We meet the first three judges: Othniel, who brings peace for forty years; Ehud, the left-handed judge who delivers a hidden message to the king of Moab; and Shamgar, who saves Israel with an oxgoad.📖 John 4:27–42 – The disciples return to find Jesus talking to the Samaritan woman. While they worry about physical food, Jesus speaks of a different "food": doing the will of the Father. The Samaritans from the town come to believe in Him, declaring, "We know that this is indeed the Savior of the world."📖 Psalm 56:1–13 – A psalm of David "when the Philistines seized him in Gath." Living Water and Lingering Compromise: Judges 1 and John 4 (Day 124)
What happens when we stop short of God's best? Today we transition into the Book of Judges. After the death of Joshua, we see the tribes of Israel begin to settle, but with a troubling pattern: they fail to fully drive out the inhabitants of the land, choosing compromise over complete obedience. In the Gospel of John, Jesus intentionally travels through Samaria—a place most Jews avoided—to meet a woman at a well. In their conversation, He bypasses social taboos to offer her "living water" and reveals His identity as the Messiah.Today’s Scripture:📖 Judges 1:1–2:5 – Following Joshua's death, Judah and Simeon find success in battle, but the narrative quickly shifts to a list of failures. Tribe after tribe allows the Canaanites to remain in the land. The reading concludes with the Angel of the Lord appearing at Bochim to rebuke Israel for their broken covenant, leading the people to weep in regret.📖 John 4:1–26 – Tired from His journey, Jesus sits by Jacob’s Well and asks a Samaritan woman for a drink. He transitions the conversation from physical thirst to spiritual need, speaking into the details of her life and explaining that true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth.📖 Proverbs 11:9–18 – Solomon observes the impact of our words and our integrity: "With his mouth the godless man would destroy his neighbor, but by knowledge the righteous are delivered." Choose This Day: Joshua’s Farewell & John the Baptist’s Humility (Day 123)
Who will you serve? Today we conclude the Book of Joshua with a dramatic covenant renewal at Shechem. Joshua, now an old man, stands before all Israel and challenges them to decide once and for all: will they serve the gods of their ancestors, or the Lord who brought them into the land? In the Gospel of John, we see a parallel heart of devotion in John the Baptist. As Jesus’ ministry grows, John’s disciples show signs of jealousy, but John responds with the ultimate posture of a servant: "He must increase, but I must decrease."Today’s Scripture:📖 Joshua 23–24 – Joshua delivers his final two speeches. He reminds the leaders of God’s faithfulness and warns against intermarrying with the remnant of the Canaanites. In Chapter 24, he recounts Israel's history from Abraham to the present, prompting the famous declaration: "But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord." The book ends with the death and burial of Joshua, Eleazar, and the bones of Joseph.📖 John 3:22–36 – A dispute arises over purification, leading John the Baptist to explain his role as the "friend of the bridegroom." He testifies that Jesus is the one who comes from above and that whoever believes in the Son has eternal life.📖 Psalm 55:12–23 – David continues his prayer amidst betrayal, ultimately deciding to "cast your burden on the Lord." He trusts that while men of blood and treachery will not live out half their days, he will trust in God.RESOURCES & READ-ALONG 📺 Watch on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLYKi8-_5xHGL_nFAZOthHtZhcb4CqW4ZF 📖 Follow the Text (LEB): https://biblia.com/books/leb/ 🗓️ Download the Full Plan: https://www.biblica.com/resources/reading-plans/CONNECT & SUPPORT 📧 Questions? Born Again & The Witness of the Altar: Joshua 21–22 and John 3 (Day 122)
What does it mean to truly belong to God? Today in the Gospel of John, we eavesdrop on a late-night conversation between Jesus and a Pharisee named Nicodemus. Jesus delivers the radical news that spiritual heritage isn't enough—we must be "born again" to see the Kingdom of God. In the Old Testament, the conquest concludes with a beautiful summary of God's faithfulness: "Not one word of all the good promises that the Lord had made to the house of Israel had failed." However, tension immediately arises as the eastern tribes return home and build a massive altar, causing the rest of Israel to fear a rebellion.Today’s Scripture:📖 Joshua 21:20–22:34 – We finish the list of Levite cities, highlighting that God provided for the ministers of the law in every region. The tribes of Reuben, Gad, and the half-tribe of Manasseh are released to go back across the Jordan. When they build a large altar of "witness," the other tribes prepare for war, only to discover that it was built out of a desire for unity, not division.📖 John 3:1–21 – Jesus explains the mystery of the new birth to Nicodemus, using the Old Testament imagery of the bronze serpent in the wilderness. This section contains John 3:16, the core of the Gospel message: God’s sacrificial love for the world through His Son.📖 Psalm 55:1–11 – A heavy lament from David as he faces betrayal from a friend. He expresses a desire to "fly away and be at rest" from the violence and strife he sees in the city.RESOURCES & READ-ALONG 📺 Watch on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLYKi8-_5xHGL_nFAZOthHtZhcb4CqW4ZF 📖 Follow the Text (LEB): https://biblia.com/books/leb/ 🗓️ Download the Full Plan: https://www.biblica.com/resources/reading-plans/CONNECT & SUPPORT 📧 Questions? Miracles and Mercy: The Cities of Refuge & The Wedding at Cana (Day 121)
What happens when the ordinary meets the Divine? Today in the Gospel of John, we witness Jesus’ first miracle at a wedding in Cana. By turning water into wine, He reveals His glory and signals that the time of "ceremonial washing" is giving way to the "new wine" of His Kingdom. In the Old Testament, the tribal allotments are finalized, and God establishes the Cities of Refuge—a vital system of mercy for those seeking protection from judgment.Today’s Scripture:📖 Joshua 19–21:19 – The final six tribes receive their inheritance, and Joshua is given his own city as a reward for his faithfulness. We see the official designation of the Cities of Refuge, ensuring that justice is tempered with mercy, and the beginning of the list of cities given to the Levites.📖 John 2:1–25 – Jesus attends a wedding in Cana where He performs His first sign, transforming water into wine. Shortly after, He travels to Jerusalem for the Passover and cleanses the Temple, declaring, "Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up"—referring to the temple of His own body.📖 Psalm 54:1–7 – A prayer of David during a time of betrayal. It is a cry for God to "save me by your name" and a declaration of confidence: "Behold, God is my helper; the Lord is the upholder of my life."RESOURCES & READ-ALONG 📺 Watch on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLYKi8-_5xHGL_nFAZOthHtZhcb4CqW4ZF 📖 Follow the Text (LEB): https://biblia.com/books/leb/ 🗓️ Download the Full Plan: https://www.biblica.com/resources/reading-plans/CONNECT & SUPPORT 📧 Questions? Behold the Lamb: The Tabernacle at Shiloh & The First Disciples (Day 120)
What does it look like to truly encounter the Messiah? Today in the Gospel of John, John the Baptist makes his famous declaration: "Behold, the Lamb of God!" We follow the ripple effect of this announcement as the first disciples—Andrew, Peter, Philip, and Nathanael—begin to follow Jesus. In the Old Testament, the division of the Promised Land continues. We see the daughters of Zelophehad receive their inheritance, and the whole congregation assembles at Shiloh to set up the Tabernacle, marking a new center for the nation’s worship.Today’s Scripture:📖 Joshua 17–18 – The allotment for the remaining half-tribe of Manasseh is detailed, including a landmark ruling for the daughters of Zelophehad. As the tribes settle, the Tabernacle is established at Shiloh. Joshua then chides the remaining seven tribes for their "slackness" in taking possession of their land and sets up a survey team to divide the rest.📖 John 1:29–51 – John the Baptist identifies Jesus as the one who takes away the sin of the world and baptizes with the Holy Spirit. We see the beautiful, personal way Jesus calls His first followers, ending with the incredible promise to Nathanael that he will see "heaven opened and the angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of Man."📖 Proverbs 10:31–11:8 – A series of contrasts regarding integrity and speech. Solomon reminds us that "a false balance is an abomination to the Lord, but a just weight is his delight," emphasizing that righteousness delivers from death.RESOURCES & READ-ALONG 📺 Watch on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLYKi8-_5xHGL_nFAZOthHtZhcb4CqW4ZF 📖 Follow the Text (LEB): https://biblia.com/books/leb/ 🗓️ Download the Full Plan: https://www.biblica.com/resources/reading-plans/CONNECT & SUPPORT 📧 Questions? In the Beginning: The Tribal Allotments & The Light of the World (Day 119)
Who is Jesus, and where did He come from? Today, we begin the Gospel of John, arguably one of the most profound books ever written. John doesn't start with a manger or a genealogy; he starts in eternity past, revealing Jesus as the "Logos"—the Word who was with God and is God. In the Old Testament, we continue the detailed work of Joshua as the land is divided among the tribes, specifically focusing on the massive territory of Judah. Even in the technical details of borders and cities, we see God fulfilling the specific promises He made centuries earlier.Today’s Scripture:📖 Joshua 15–16 – We see the extensive allotment given to the tribe of Judah, the tribe through which the Messiah would eventually come. This section includes Caleb’s conquest of Hebron and Debir, followed by the borders for the sons of Joseph (Ephraim). We see a recurring and sobering note: the failure to fully drive out the inhabitants of the land.📖 John 1:1–28 – The "Prologue" of John’s Gospel. John introduces the Word who is the source of life and light. We meet John the Baptist, the voice crying out in the wilderness, who makes it clear that he is not the Christ, but the one sent to prepare His way.📖 Psalm 53:1–6 – A chilling echo of Psalm 14, describing the "fool" who says in his heart there is no God. It is a call for salvation to come out of Zion and for God to restore His people.RESOURCES & READ-ALONG 📺 Watch on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLYKi8-_5xHGL_nFAZOthHtZhcb4CqW4ZF 📖 Follow the Text (LEB): https://biblia.com/books/leb/ 🗓️ Download the Full Plan: https://www.biblica.com/resources/reading-plans/CONNECT & SUPPORT 📧 Questions? Inheriting the Promise & The Ascension of the King: Joshua 13–14 and Luke 24 (Day 118)
What does it look like to receive what God has promised? Today in Joshua, the season of war transitions into a season of inheritance. Even as Joshua grows old, God instructs him to divide the land among the tribes, and we see the legendary Caleb—now 85 years old—claim his mountain with the same fire and faith he had forty years prior. In the Gospel of Luke, we reach a stunning conclusion. Jesus appears to His disciples, proves His physical resurrection by eating before them, opens their minds to understand the Scriptures, and finally ascends into heaven, leaving them with great joy and the promise of the Holy Spirit.Today’s Scripture:📖 Joshua 13–14 – God outlines the land that remains to be conquered but commands the division of the inheritance for the nine and a half tribes. We see the specific territory given to the tribes east of the Jordan and the inspiring request of Caleb, who asks for the difficult hill country of Hebron, trusting God today just as he did at Kadesh-barnea.📖 Luke 24:36–53 – Jesus stands in the midst of the terrified disciples, showing His wounds and eating broiled fish to prove He is not a ghost. He commissions them as witnesses to all nations and leads them out to Bethany. As He blesses them, He is carried up into heaven, and they return to Jerusalem with hearts full of worship.📖 Psalm 52:1–9 – A contemplation of David regarding the wicked who trust in riches and tongues that devise destruction. He contrasts them with the righteous: "But I am like a green olive tree in the house of God. I trust in the steadfast love of God forever and ever."RESOURCES & READ-ALONG 📺 Watch on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLYKi8-_5xHGL_nFAZOthHtZhcb4CqW4ZF 📖 Follow the Text (LEB): https://biblia.com/books/leb/ 🗓️ Download the Full Plan: https://www.biblica.com/resources/reading-plans/CONNECT & SUPPORT 📧 Questions? Victory Secured & The Road to Emmaus: Joshua 11–12 and Luke 24 (Day 117)
What happens when the promises of God finally become a reality? Today in Joshua, we see the culmination of years of struggle as the Northern kings are defeated, the land finally rests from war, and a detailed list of conquered kings serves as a "receipt" of God’s faithfulness. In the Gospel of Luke, we move from the silence of the tomb to the shock of the Resurrection. We join the women at the empty tomb and walk alongside two discouraged disciples on the road to Emmaus, discovering that the "conquering King" didn't come to take a throne by force, but to redeem the world through His suffering and rising.Today’s Scripture:📖 Joshua 11–12 – The Northern coalition of kings, led by Jabin of Hazor, assembles an army "as numerous as the sand on the seashore," yet Joshua defeats them just as the Lord commanded. Chapter 12 provides a complete list of the 31 kings defeated by Moses and Joshua, marking the end of the initial conquest.📖 Luke 24:1–35 – The women find the stone rolled away and receive the angelic message: "He is not here, but has risen." Later that day, Jesus appears incognito to two followers traveling to Emmaus. As He explains how the Law and the Prophets pointed to Him, their hearts burn within them, and they finally recognize Him in the breaking of the bread.📖 Psalm 51:10–19 – We continue David’s prayer of repentance. He asks God to "create in me a clean heart" and "restore to me the joy of your salvation," acknowledging that the sacrifice God truly desires is a broken and contrite spirit.RESOURCES & READ-ALONG 📺 Watch on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLYKi8-_5xHGL_nFAZOthHtZhcb4CqW4ZF 📖 Follow the Text (LEB): https://biblia.com/books/leb/ 🗓️ Download the Full Plan: https://www.biblica.com/resources/reading-plans/CONNECT & SUPPORT 📧 Questions? The Sun Stands Still & The Son of God Suffers: Joshua 10 and the Crucifixion (Day 116)
What happens when the Creator of the universe intervenes in human history? Today in Joshua, we witness a miracle of cosmic proportions as God causes the sun and moon to stand still to give Israel victory over the Amorite kings. It is a day of unprecedented power. In the Gospel of Luke, however, we see a different kind of power. We stand at the foot of the Cross as the "Light of the World" is extinguished for a moment. As Jesus breathes His last, the sun is darkened, the veil is torn, and the Centurion is forced to confess: "Certainly this man was innocent!"Today’s Scripture:📖 Joshua 9:16–10:43 – Israel discovers the Gibeonites' deception but honors their oath. When five kings unite against Gibeon, Joshua marches to their aid. In response to Joshua's prayer, God sends hailstones and halts the sun in the sky, leading to a total defeat of the Southern kings and the securement of the land.📖 Luke 23:26–56 – We follow the "Via Dolorosa" with Simon of Cyrene. Jesus is crucified between two criminals—offering paradise to the one who repents. We witness His final words, His burial by Joseph of Arimathea, and the silent, heavy grief of the women who waited by the tomb.📖 Proverbs 10:21–30 – Solomon reflects on the lasting value of righteousness: "The blessing of the Lord makes rich, and he adds no sorrow with it."RESOURCES & READ-ALONG 📺 Watch on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLYKi8-_5xHGL_nFAZOthHtZhcb4CqW4ZF 📖 Follow the Text (LEB): https://biblia.com/books/leb/ 🗓️ Download the Full Plan: https://www.biblica.com/resources/reading-plans/CONNECT & SUPPORT 📧 Questions? Ambush and Allegiance: The Victory at Ai & Jesus Before Pilate (Day 115)
How do we handle the pressure of public judgment and the lure of deception? Today in Joshua, we see a community restored. After dealing with the sin of Achan, Israel returns to Ai with a strategic ambush and claims a decisive victory. However, a new challenge arises not from the battlefield, but through a clever disguise, as the Gibeonites trick Israel into a treaty. In the Gospel of Luke, the ultimate "Ambush of Justice" takes place as Jesus is mocked by the soldiers, questioned by the Council, and sent back and forth between Pilate and Herod in a political game that ends with the release of a murderer and the sentencing of the Innocent.Today’s Scripture:📖 Joshua 8–9:15 – Israel successfully captures Ai using a clever pincer movement. Following the victory, Joshua leads the nation in a covenant renewal ceremony at Mount Ebal, reading the entire Law. The reading concludes with the arrival of the Gibeonites, who use moldy bread and worn-out clothes to convince Israel they are from a far country, leading Joshua to make a peace treaty without consulting the Lord.📖 Luke 22:63–23:25 – Jesus endures brutal mockery before being brought before the Sanhedrin. He is then ushered to Pilate, then to Herod Antipas, and back to Pilate. Despite Pilate’s three declarations of Jesus’ innocence, the pressure of the crowd prevails, and Barabbas is released while Jesus is delivered over to be crucified.📖 Psalm 51:1–9 – One of the most famous prayers in the Bible. Victory, Defeat, and the Garden of Agony: Joshua 6–7 and Gethsemane (Day 114)
What happens when our private sins collide with our public mission? Today in Joshua, we see the "Commander of the Army of the Lord" appear before the famous Battle of Jericho. We witness the walls fall through faith and obedience, but the celebration is cut short. The hidden sin of one man, Achan, leads to a humiliating defeat at Ai, proving that God’s presence is tied to His people's holiness. In the Gospel of Luke, we follow Jesus into the darkness of Gethsemane. As He sweats drops of blood in prayer, His disciples sleep, Judas betrays Him with a kiss, and Peter—under the pressure of the night—denies even knowing Him.Today’s Scripture:📖 Joshua 5:13–7:26 – Joshua meets the mysterious Commander of the Lord's Army. Israel follows God's "unconventional" battle plan for Jericho, leading to its total collapse. However, the next battle at Ai ends in disaster because Achan stole "devoted things," leading to a somber moment of judgment for Israel to restore their purity.📖 Luke 22:39–62 – Jesus prays in agony on the Mount of Olives, submitting His will to the Father. He is arrested and led to the house of the high priest. The reading concludes with the heartbreaking moment the rooster crows and Peter remembers Jesus' prophecy, weeping bitterly over his denial.📖 Psalm 50:16–23 – A rebuke to those who recite God's laws but hate His instruction: "The one who offers thanksgiving as his sacrifice glorifies me; to one who orders his way rightly I will show the salvation of God!"RESOURCES & READ-ALONG 📺 Watch on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLYKi8-_5xHGL_nFAZOthHtZhcb4CqW4ZF 📖 Follow the Text (LEB): https://biblia.com/books/leb/ 🗓️ Download the Full Plan: https://www.biblica.com/resources/reading-plans/CONNECT & SUPPORT 📧 Questions? Crossing the Jordan & The New Covenant: Joshua 3–5 and the Last Supper (Day 113)
How do we remember the faithfulness of God in the midst of a transition? Today in Joshua, we witness one of the most miraculous moments in Israel's history: the parting of the Jordan River. Just as God opened the Red Sea for Moses, He opens the Jordan for Joshua, leading the people into the Promised Land on dry ground. In the Gospel of Luke, we enter the upper room. As the shadows of betrayal loom with Judas, Jesus redefines the Passover meal, offering His body and blood as the foundation of a New Covenant.Today’s Scripture:📖 Joshua 3–5:12 – The priests carry the Ark of the Covenant into the flooded Jordan, and the water stops flowing. After crossing, the people set up twelve stones as a memorial. Once in the land, the new generation is circumcised, they celebrate the Passover, and—signaling the end of an era—the manna finally ceases as they eat the produce of Canaan.📖 Luke 22:1–38 – The plot to kill Jesus thickens as Satan enters Judas. Jesus prepares the Passover, institutes the Lord's Supper, and addresses the disciples' dispute about greatness. The reading concludes with Jesus’ sobering warning to Peter about his coming denial.📖 Psalm 50:1–15 – A powerful declaration of God’s sovereignty: "The Mighty One, God the Lord, speaks and summons the earth." Be Strong and Courageous: The Entry into Canaan & The Signs of the End (Day 112)
How do we find courage when the world feels like it's shifting beneath our feet? Today we start the Book of Joshua, moving from the wilderness wandering to the conquest of the Promised Land. God’s command to the new leader is simple yet profound: "Be strong and courageous." We also meet Rahab, an unlikely hero whose faith saves her household. In the Gospel of Luke, Jesus delivers His "Olivet Discourse," preparing His disciples for the trials to come and the eventual cosmic signs of His second coming.Today’s Scripture:📖 Joshua 1–2 – Following the death of Moses, God commissions Joshua to lead Israel across the Jordan. We see the preparation for battle and the mission of two spies into Jericho, where they find an unexpected ally in Rahab, who hides them and confesses her faith in the God of Israel.📖 Luke 21:5–38 – Looking at the magnificent Temple, Jesus predicts its total destruction. He warns of false messiahs, wars, and persecutions, but encourages His followers to "straighten up and raise your heads, because your redemption is drawing near."📖 Proverbs 10:11–20 – Solomon’s proverbs continue to contrast the righteous and the wicked, specifically focusing on the power of the tongue: "The mouth of the righteous is a fountain of life, but the mouth of the wicked conceals violence."RESOURCES & READ-ALONG 📺 Watch on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLYKi8-_5xHGL_nFAZOthHtZhcb4CqW4ZF 📖 Follow the Text (LEB): https://biblia.com/books/leb/ 🗓️ Download the Full Plan: https://www.biblica.com/resources/reading-plans/CONNECT & SUPPORT 📧 Questions? The End of an Era & The Hope of Resurrection: Deuteronomy 33–34 and Luke 20–21 (Day 111)
What is the legacy of a life lived for God? Today, we reach the final chapters of Deuteronomy and say goodbye to Moses. After blessing the tribes of Israel, Moses climbs Mount Nebo, views the Promised Land, and enters his eternal rest. In the Gospel of Luke, Jesus is challenged on the nature of the afterlife by the Sadducees. He reveals that God is the "God of the living," not the dead, and then points to a poor widow as the ultimate example of true devotion.Today’s Scripture:📖 Deuteronomy 33–34:12 – Moses pronounces a poetic blessing over each tribe of Israel, similar to Jacob’s blessing in Genesis. He then ascends Mount Nebo, where God shows him the full extent of the land. Moses dies at 120 years old, and the Pentateuch concludes with a tribute to the greatest prophet Israel had ever known—until the arrival of Christ.📖 Luke 20:27–21:4 – The Sadducees attempt to trap Jesus with a question about marriage in the resurrection, but Jesus corrects their understanding of the age to come. He warns against the pride of the scribes and then observes a poor widow putting two small copper coins into the offering, declaring that she has given more than all the wealthy contributors.📖 Psalm 49:1–20 – A wisdom psalm that addresses a universal truth: wealth cannot buy a ransom for the soul. It encourages the faithful not to be afraid of the rich, for "when he dies he will carry nothing away."RESOURCES & READ-ALONG 📺 Watch on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLYKi8-_5xHGL_nFAZOthHtZhcb4CqW4ZF 📖 Follow the Text (LEB): https://biblia.com/books/leb/ 🗓️ Download the Full Plan: https://www.biblica.com/resources/reading-plans/CONNECT & SUPPORT 📧 Questions? Today in Deuteronomy, Moses recites a song that God commanded him to teach Israel—a lyrical masterpiece that celebrates God’s faithfulness while warning against the "crooked and twisted" path of idolatry. In the Gospel of Luke, we see that the "Rock" has arrived in Jerusalem. Jesus cleanses the Temple of its corruption and stands His ground against the chief priests and scribes, answering their questions about authority and taxes with divine wisdom that leaves His enemies speechless.Today’s Scripture:📖 Deuteronomy 31:30–32:52 – The Song of Moses. This prophetic poem describes God as "The Rock," perfect in work and just in ways. It recounts Israel's history of being cared for like an eagle’s nest, their eventual rebellion, and God’s promise of both judgment and ultimate vindication. The reading ends with God’s final command to Moses to ascend Mount Nebo to die, seeing the land but not entering it.📖 Luke 19:45–20:26 – Jesus drives the merchants out of the Temple, declaring it a "house of prayer." He then faces a series of challenges regarding His authority. He responds with the pointed Parable of the Wicked Tenants and the famous declaration regarding taxes: "Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s."📖 Psalm 48:9–14 – We conclude this song of Zion by meditating on God’s steadfast love within His temple and the call to "walk about Zion" and tell the next generation that this God is our God forever.RESOURCES & READ-ALONG 📺 Watch on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLYKi8-_5xHGL_nFAZOthHtZhcb4CqW4ZF 📖 Follow the Text (LEB): https://biblia.com/books/leb/ 🗓️ Download the Full Plan: https://www.biblica.com/resources/reading-plans/CONNECT & SUPPORT 📧 Questions? Life, Death, and the King’s Arrival: Deuteronomy 30–31 and the Triumphal Entry (Day 109)
What do we do with the time and the truth we’ve been given? Today in Deuteronomy, Moses delivers his final, stirring appeal to Israel: "I have set before you life and death... therefore choose life." As he prepares to pass the leadership to Joshua, he reminds the people that God’s Word is not far off in heaven, but is very near—in their mouths and in their hearts. In the Gospel of Luke, Jesus nears the end of His own journey as He enters Jerusalem on a donkey. He tells the Parable of the Ten Minas to teach about stewardship and then weeps over the city that fails to recognize the "time of its visitation."Today’s Scripture:📖 Deuteronomy 30:11–31:29 – Moses emphasizes the accessibility of God's commands and calls heaven and earth as witnesses to the choice Israel must make. He formally commissions Joshua, commands the public reading of the Law every seven years, and predicts that the people will eventually turn away, prompting him to write a song as a witness against them.📖 Luke 19:11–44 – Jesus tells the Parable of the Ten Minas to correct expectations about the immediate appearance of the Kingdom. He then rides into Jerusalem to the shouts of "Blessed is the King!" only to weep over the city, foretelling its destruction because it rejected the peace He offered.📖 Psalm 48:1–8 – A song of Zion, celebrating the beauty and security of the city of God: "Great is the Lord and greatly to be praised in the city of our God!"RESOURCES & READ-ALONG 📺 Watch on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLYKi8-_5xHGL_nFAZOthHtZhcb4CqW4ZF 📖 Follow the Text (LEB): https://biblia.com/books/leb/ 🗓️ Download the Full Plan: https://www.biblica.com/resources/reading-plans/CONNECT & SUPPORT 📧 Questions? Choose Life & Seeking the Lost: Deuteronomy 29–30 and Zacchaeus (Day 108)
Does God still offer a second chance after we've failed? Today in Deuteronomy, Moses renews the covenant with Israel on the plains of Moab. He reminds them that while secret things belong to God, the revealed things belong to us—specifically the choice to return to Him with all our heart. In the Gospel of Luke, we see what "returning" looks like in real time. We follow Jesus into Jericho where He restores sight to a persistent blind man and invites Himself to the home of Zacchaeus, proving that the Son of Man came for one specific reason: to seek and to save the lost.Today’s Scripture:📖 Deuteronomy 29–30:10 – Moses reviews the miraculous journey from Egypt and warns against the "root bearing poisonous and bitter fruit" (idolatry). Yet, he offers a staggering promise: even after exile and failure, if the people return to God, He will "circumcise their hearts" and restore them to the land.📖 Luke 18:31–19:10 – Jesus predicts His death for the third time, but the disciples still don't grasp it. As they approach Jericho, Jesus heals a blind beggar who cries out for mercy. Then, in one of the most famous encounters in the New Testament, Jesus transforms the life of the wealthy tax collector, Zacchaeus.📖 Proverbs 10:1–10 – We begin the "Proverbs of Solomon." This section moves into short, punchy antithetical couplets—contrasting the wise son with the foolish, and the hardworking hand with the slack one.RESOURCES & READ-ALONG 📺 Watch on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLYKi8-_5xHGL_nFAZOthHtZhcb4CqW4ZF 📖 Follow the Text (LEB): https://biblia.com/books/leb/ 🗓️ Download the Full Plan: https://www.biblica.com/resources/reading-plans/CONNECT & SUPPORT 📧 Questions? Choices, Consequences, and Persistent Prayer: Deuteronomy 28 and Luke 18 (Day 107)
What determines the direction of our lives? Today in Deuteronomy, we encounter one of the most sobering chapters in the Bible. Moses outlines the terrifying consequences of turning away from God’s covenant, serving as a powerful reminder of the weight of our spiritual choices. In the Gospel of Luke, Jesus offers the remedy for a heavy heart: persistent prayer. Through the Parable of the Persistent Widow and the story of the Pharisee and the Tax Collector, He shows us that God responds to the humble and the hungry, not the self-righteous.Today’s Scripture:📖 Deuteronomy 28:15–68 – A long and intense list of the "curses for disobedience." Moses describes the physical, social, and national ruin that follows an intentional departure from God. While difficult to read, these verses underscore the absolute holiness of God and the seriousness of the covenant Israel made at Sinai.📖 Luke 18:1–30 – Jesus teaches that we "ought always to pray and not lose heart." We see the contrast between the proud Pharisee and the repentant Tax Collector, the welcoming of the little children, and the encounter with the Rich Young Ruler who found it hard to leave his earthly "blessings" to follow the True Blessing.📖 Psalm 47:1–9 – A joyful shout of praise: "Clap your hands, all peoples! Shout to God with loud songs of joy! Gratitude, Blessings, and the Coming Kingdom: Deuteronomy 26–28 and Luke 17 (Day 106)
What does it look like to live a life of "covenant gratitude"? Today in Deuteronomy, the Israelites are instructed on how to present their firstfruits to God, rehearsing their history of deliverance as they give. We also witness the dramatic scene at Mount Ebal and Mount Gerizim, where the blessings and curses of the Law are proclaimed. In the Gospel of Luke, Jesus heals ten lepers, but only one—a Samaritan—returns to give thanks. Jesus then pivots to answer the Pharisees about the "when" and "where" of the Kingdom of God, warning that it won't come with signs to be observed, but is already in their midst.Today’s Scripture:📖 Deuteronomy 26–28:14 – Moses describes the ritual of the firstfruits and the tithe, followed by the command to write the Law on large stones once they cross the Jordan. The tribes are divided between two mountains to shout the "Amens" to the curses and blessings, emphasizing the life-and-death importance of obedience.📖 Luke 17:11–37 – On the way to Jerusalem, Jesus cleanses ten men with leprosy, highlighting the faith of the one who returned to worship. He then teaches on the nature of the Kingdom of God and the "Days of the Son of Man," comparing the suddenness of His return to the days of Noah and Lot.📖 Psalm 46:1–11 – A powerful anthem of trust in God’s sovereignty: "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble... Justice for the Vulnerable & The Great Chasm: Deuteronomy 23–25 and Luke 16–17 (Day 105)
How do our actions today echo in eternity? Today in Deuteronomy, we look at laws designed to protect the marginalized: escaped slaves, the poor, the newly married, and the immigrant. These statutes emphasize a "neighbor-first" culture where human dignity outweighs profit. In the Gospel of Luke, Jesus pulls back the curtain on the afterlife with the story of the Rich Man and Lazarus—showing that how we treat the "Lazarus" at our own gate has eternal consequences. He then challenges His disciples to live with a faith that serves without seeking applause.Today’s Scripture:📖 Deuteronomy 23–25:19 – A collection of laws regarding the purity of the camp and social compassion. We see protections for the runaway slave, the prohibition of interest on loans to brothers, and the "gleaning laws" that ensure the harvest provides for the poor. It concludes with the command to remember the treachery of Amalek.📖 Luke 16:19–17:10 – Jesus tells the sobering account of the Rich Man and Lazarus, emphasizing the permanence of the "great chasm" after death and the sufficiency of the Scriptures to warn us. He then teaches on the danger of stumbling blocks, the necessity of forgiveness, and the humble heart of a servant.📖 Psalm 45:10–17 – The conclusion of this royal wedding song, focusing on the bride’s beauty and the future glory of the King’s descendants: "I will cause your name to be remembered in all generations."RESOURCES & READ-ALONG 📺 Watch on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLYKi8-_5xHGL_nFAZOthHtZhcb4CqW4ZF 📖 Follow the Text (LEB): https://biblia.com/books/leb/ 🗓️ Download the Full Plan: https://www.biblica.com/resources/reading-plans/CONNECT & SUPPORT 📧 Questions? Dignity, Duty, and the Shrewd Manager: Deuteronomy 21–22 and Luke 16 (Day 104)
How does our private integrity affect our public community? Today in Deuteronomy, we look at a series of civil laws that might seem strange at first, but each points to a deep concern for justice, family order, and the protection of the vulnerable. In the Gospel of Luke, Jesus tells the puzzling but powerful Parable of the Shrewd Manager. He uses a story of a failing steward to teach a radical lesson: use the resources of this world to invest in the next, because you cannot serve both God and money.Today’s Scripture:📖 Deuteronomy 21–22 – This section covers everything from the atonement for unsolved murders and the treatment of female captives to the rights of the firstborn and laws concerning domestic morality. We also see the famous command to help a neighbor’s fallen ox, emphasizing that we are responsible for the welfare of those around us.📖 Luke 16:1–18 – Jesus teaches on stewardship through the Shrewd Manager, concluding that "he who is faithful in a very little is faithful also in much." He confronts the Pharisees, who were "lovers of money," and reaffirms the permanence of God's Law and the sanctity of marriage.📖 Proverbs 9:13–18 – We move from the feast of Wisdom to the house of "Woman Folly." She is loud and seductive, offering "stolen water" and "bread eaten in secret," but leading her guests straight to the depths of Sheol.RESOURCES & READ-ALONG 📺 Watch on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLYKi8-_5xHGL_nFAZOthHtZhcb4CqW4ZF 📖 Follow the Text (LEB): https://biblia.com/books/leb/ 🗓️ Download the Full Plan: https://www.biblica.com/resources/reading-plans/CONNECT & SUPPORT 📧 Questions? Justice, Warfare, and a Father’s Prodigal Love: Deuteronomy 19–20 and Luke 15 (Day 103)
What happens when the lost are found? Today in Deuteronomy, Moses establishes the laws for the Cities of Refuge and the rules of engagement for holy warfare—balancing the scales of justice with a clear eye on the sanctity of life. In the Gospel of Luke, we encounter the heart of Jesus’ message as He responds to the grumbling Pharisees with three consecutive stories: the Lost Sheep, the Lost Coin, and the Prodigal Son. These parables reveal a God who doesn't just wait for the lost to return, but actively seeks them out with rejoicing.Today’s Scripture:📖 Deuteronomy 19–20 – Moses details the protection for those who commit accidental manslaughter and the requirement for multiple witnesses in legal cases ("eye for eye"). He then outlines the laws of war, including the famous exemption for those who are fearful or have just built a house or planted a vineyard.📖 Luke 15:1–32 – In response to criticism for eating with "tax collectors and sinners," Jesus tells of a shepherd leaving the ninety-nine for one sheep, a woman searching for a silver coin, and a father running to embrace a son who had squandered his inheritance.📖 Psalm 45:1–9 – A royal wedding song celebrating the King’s beauty, majesty, and righteousness: "Your throne, O God, is forever and ever."RESOURCES & READ-ALONG 📺 Watch on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLYKi8-_5xHGL_nFAZOthHtZhcb4CqW4ZF 📖 Follow the Text (LEB): https://biblia.com/books/leb/ 🗓️ Download the Full Plan: https://www.biblica.com/resources/reading-plans/CONNECT & SUPPORT 📧 Questions? Leaders, Prophets, and the Cost of Discipleship: Deuteronomy 17–18 and Luke 14 (Day 102)
What does it cost to truly follow the King? Today in Deuteronomy, Moses sets out the requirements for the future kings of Israel: they must not multiply horses, wives, or gold, but must instead be students of the Word. We also hear the promise of a "Prophet like Moses" who is to come. In the Gospel of Luke, Jesus tells the Parable of the Great Banquet—a story of an invitation refused—and then turns to the crowd with some of His most challenging words on the cost of discipleship, warning that we must "count the cost" before we build.Today’s Scripture:📖 Deuteronomy 16:21–18:22 – Moses warns against pagan worship before laying out the legal and leadership structure for Israel. We see the specific laws for kings, the provision for the Levites, and the famous promise that God will raise up a Prophet from among the people.📖 Luke 14:15–35 – After a guest mentions the "bread in the kingdom of God," Jesus tells the Parable of the Great Banquet. He then addresses the large crowds following Him, stating clearly that being His disciple requires putting Him above all else—including family and life itself.📖 Psalm 44:13–26 – The psalmist continues a raw plea for God to awake and help His people: "Rise up; come to our help! Debts Cancelled and Tables Turned: Deuteronomy 15–16 and Luke 14 (Day 101)
How does God’s grace change the way we handle our resources and our status? Today in Deuteronomy, Moses outlines the "Year of Release"—a revolutionary system where debts are cancelled and the poor are cared for with an open hand. In the Gospel of Luke, Jesus continues to challenge the religious status quo. He mourns over Jerusalem, heals a man on the Sabbath at a Pharisee’s house, and then delivers a stinging lesson on humility, telling His hosts to stop seeking the "best seats" and start inviting those who can never repay them.Today’s Scripture:📖 Deuteronomy 15:1–16:20 – The laws concerning the Sabbatical Year, the release of slaves, and the consecration of firstborn animals. Moses then transitions into the three major annual feasts—Passover, Weeks (Pentecost), and Booths—reminding the people that no one should appear before the Lord empty-handed.📖 Luke 13:31–14:14 – After dismissing a warning about Herod, Jesus laments over the city that kills its prophets. At a Sabbath meal, He heals a man with dropsy and challenges the guests to seek the lowest place at the table, promising that those who humble themselves will be exalted.📖 Psalm 44:1–12 – A communal lament that begins by recalling the great deeds God did for the ancestors, but transitions into a raw cry for help as the people face defeat and disgrace.RESOURCES & READ-ALONG 📺 Watch on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLYKi8-_5xHGL_nFAZOthHtZhcb4CqW4ZF 📖 Follow the Text (LEB): https://biblia.com/books/leb/ 🗓️ Download the Full Plan: https://www.biblica.com/resources/reading-plans/CONNECT & SUPPORT 📧 Questions? Discernment and the Narrow Door: Deuteronomy 13–14 and Luke 13 (Day 100)
Happy Day 100! We have officially traveled 100 days through the story of Scripture together. Today in Deuteronomy, Moses speaks on the vital importance of loyalty to God, providing strict warnings against false prophets and those who would lead the heart away from the Truth. In the Gospel of Luke, Jesus shatters the idea that tragedy only strikes the "worst" sinners, calling everyone to a life of repentance and describing the "narrow door" that leads to the Kingdom of God.Today’s Scripture:📖 Deuteronomy 13–14 – Moses warns against enticements to idolatry, even from within one's own family or through signs and wonders. We also see a restatement of the dietary laws and the importance of the tithe—reminding Israel that they are a "holy people" set apart for God’s own possession.📖 Luke 13:1–30 – Jesus addresses the news of the day, using current events to call for universal repentance. He heals a woman on the Sabbath, tells the parables of the Mustard Seed and the Leaven, and warns that many will try to enter the narrow door of the Kingdom but will not be able.📖 Proverbs 9:1–12 – A beautiful contrast between the invitations of Wisdom and Folly. Choices and Readiness: The One Place of Worship & Being Watchful Servants (Day 99)
Are we prepared for what is coming? Today in Deuteronomy, Moses presents Israel with a stark choice: a blessing for obedience or a curse for disobedience. He instructs them on the centralized place of worship—reminding them that they cannot simply worship God however they please, but must follow His design. In the Gospel of Luke, Jesus echoes this call to intentionality, urging His followers to live with their "lamps burning" and their hearts ready for His return, while warning of the divisions that His message will bring.Today’s Scripture:📖 Deuteronomy 11–12 – Moses highlights the wonders Israel has seen and places before them the blessing and the curse. He commands the destruction of pagan altars and establishes the principle of "the place the Lord your God will choose," emphasizing that holiness requires exclusive devotion.📖 Luke 12:35–59 – Jesus speaks on the necessity of being ready for the Son of Man's return. He discusses the faithful and wise manager, the "fire" He came to cast on the earth, and the importance of interpreting the "present time" and settling accounts before the judgment.📖 Psalm 43:1–5 – A continuation of the previous lament, the psalmist asks God to "send out your light and your truth" to lead him back to the altar of God with exceeding joy.RESOURCES & READ-ALONG 📺 Watch on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLYKi8-_5xHGL_nFAZOthHtZhcb4CqW4ZF 📖 Follow the Text (LEB): https://biblia.com/books/leb/ 🗓️ Download the Full Plan: https://www.biblica.com/resources/reading-plans/CONNECT & SUPPORT 📧 Questions? Not by Your Righteousness: The Golden Calf & The Cure for Anxiety (Day 98)
Where do we place our confidence? Today in Deuteronomy, Moses delivers a "humility check" to Israel, reminding them that they are entering the Promised Land because of God's faithfulness, not their own goodness. He recounts the disaster of the Golden Calf as proof of their "stiff-necked" nature. In the Gospel of Luke, Jesus addresses the root of our own pride and fear—warning against the hypocrisy of the Pharisees and the trap of greed, while pointing us toward a Kingdom that cannot be lost.Today’s Scripture:📖 Deuteronomy 9–10 – Moses recounts the rebellion at Horeb (Sinai) and his forty days of intercession for a people who deserved judgment. He then describes the second set of stone tablets and the core of what God requires: to fear Him, walk in His ways, and love Him with all our heart.📖 Luke 12:1–34 – Jesus speaks to a crowd of thousands, warning against the "leaven of the Pharisees." He tells the Parable of the Rich Fool and delivers one of the most comforting passages in Scripture, urging His followers to "consider the lilies" and seek the Kingdom rather than worrying about tomorrow.📖 Psalm 42:7–11 – The psalmist continues to wrestle with a downcast soul, yet chooses to hope in God: "Why are you cast down, O my soul? ... Love the Lord with All Your Heart: The Shema & The Woes to the Pharisees (Day 97)
How do we move from "knowing about" God to truly loving Him? Today in Deuteronomy, we encounter the Shema—the command to love the Lord our God with all our heart, soul, and strength. Moses warns the people not to forget God once they enter the land of plenty. In the Gospel of Luke, Jesus shows us exactly what "forgetting God" looks like in practice, as He delivers a series of "Woes" to the Pharisees and lawyers who obsess over ritual washing and public status while harboring greed and injustice in their hearts.Today’s Scripture:📖 Deuteronomy 6–8 – Moses delivers the famous "Shema" and instructs parents to teach God’s Word diligently to their children. He reminds Israel that they were chosen because of God’s love, not their own strength, and warns that "man does not live by bread alone," but by every word from the mouth of the Lord.📖 Luke 11:33–54 – Jesus uses the imagery of a lamp to talk about the light of the soul. He is then invited to a Pharisee’s house, where He bypasses traditional ritual washing to address the internal corruption of the religious elite, leading to a heated confrontation.📖 Psalm 42:1–6 – A deeply personal cry of spiritual thirst: "As a deer pants for flowing streams, so pants my soul for you, O God."RESOURCES & READ-ALONG 📺 Watch on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLYKi8-_5xHGL_nFAZOthHtZhcb4CqW4ZF 📖 Follow the Text (LEB): https://biblia.com/books/leb/ 🗓️ Download the Full Plan: https://www.biblica.com/resources/reading-plans/CONNECT & SUPPORT 📧 Questions? The Ten Commandments & The Power of Prayer: Deuteronomy 5 and Luke 11 (Day 96)
How do we stay faithful to a God we cannot see? Today in Deuteronomy, Moses warns against the temptation of idolatry and recounts the earth-shaking moment at Mount Sinai when God gave the Ten Commandments. In the Gospel of Luke, Jesus emphasizes that our relationship with God is built on persistent, bold prayer—asking, seeking, and knocking—while warning that simply "cleaning up" our lives isn't enough if we don't fill them with the presence of God.Today’s Scripture:📖 Deuteronomy 4:15–5:33 – Moses delivers a stern warning against making graven images and then restates the Ten Commandments to the new generation. He reminds them of the terrifying glory of God appearing in fire and cloud, and the people's plea for Moses to be their mediator.📖 Luke 11:5–32 – Jesus tells the parable of the friend at midnight to illustrate persistence in prayer. He then faces accusations regarding Beelzebul, leading to a powerful teaching on spiritual warfare, the return of unclean spirits, and the "Sign of Jonah."📖 Proverbs 8:32–36 – A final exhortation from Wisdom: "Blessed is the one who listens to me... Loving Your Neighbor & Learning to Pray: Deuteronomy 3–4 and Luke 10–11 (Day 95)
What does it look like to truly love God and your neighbor? Today in Deuteronomy, Moses recounts the defeat of King Og of Bashan—a literal giant—and exhorts the people to hold fast to God’s statutes so that the nations may see their wisdom. In the Gospel of Luke, Jesus defines "neighbor" through the radical Parable of the Good Samaritan, corrects Martha’s busy spirit by pointing to Mary’s devotion, and provides the blueprint for all communication with God: The Lord’s Prayer.Today’s Scripture:📖 Deuteronomy 2:24–4:14 – Israel defeats the kings of the Amorites and the giants of Bashan, claiming the land east of the Jordan. Moses then delivers a powerful plea for obedience, reminding the people of the unique privilege of having a God who is "near to them" whenever they call.📖 Luke 10:25–11:4 – A lawyer’s question leads to the story of the Good Samaritan. We then visit the home of Mary and Martha, where Jesus highlights the "one thing necessary." The reading concludes with the disciples asking, "Lord, teach us to pray," and Jesus responding with what we now know as the Lord's Prayer.📖 Psalm 41:7–13 – The conclusion of Book One of the Psalms. David prays for restoration from his enemies and ends with a doxology: "Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting!"RESOURCES & READ-ALONG 📺 Watch on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLYKi8-_5xHGL_nFAZOthHtZhcb4CqW4ZF 📖 Follow the Text (LEB): https://biblia.com/books/leb/ 🗓️ Download the Full Plan: https://www.biblica.com/resources/reading-plans/CONNECT & SUPPORT 📧 Questions? Words for a New Generation: Starting Deuteronomy & The Mission of the Seventy-Two (Day 94)
How do we prepare the next generation for the promises of God? Today, we open the book of Deuteronomy, which means "Second Law." It isn't just a repeat of the rules; it is a heart-to-heart sermon from Moses to a new generation. We look back at the failures of the past at Kadesh Barnea and look forward to the conquest ahead. In the New Testament, Jesus emphasizes the urgency of the harvest, sending out seventy-two disciples with authority and warning that following Him requires total commitment.Today’s Scripture:📖 Deuteronomy 1–2:23 – Moses begins his final address on the plains of Moab. He recounts the appointment of leaders, the scout's report of the land, and the subsequent wilderness wandering, reminding the people that God has been faithful even when they were not.📖 Luke 9:57–10:24 – Jesus addresses the high cost of discipleship before commissioning seventy-two others to go ahead of Him. They return with joy at the power of His name, while Jesus rejoices in the Father’s sovereign plan to reveal truth to the "little children."📖 Psalm 41:1–6 – A meditation on the blessing of considering the poor and a prayer for mercy in the face of betrayal: "Even my close friend, someone I trusted... has turned against me."RESOURCES & READ-ALONG 📺 Watch on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLYKi8-_5xHGL_nFAZOthHtZhcb4CqW4ZF 📖 Follow the Text (LEB): https://biblia.com/books/leb/ 🗓️ Download the Full Plan: https://www.biblica.com/resources/reading-plans/CONNECT & SUPPORT 📧 Questions? Cities of Refuge & The Mount of Glory: Numbers 35–36 and the Transfiguration (Day 93)
Where do we find safety and glory? Today, we finish the Book of Numbers by exploring the "Cities of Refuge"—God’s provision of justice and protection for those who have caused accidental death. In the Gospel of Luke, we move from the lowlands of the camp to the mountain of Transfiguration, where Jesus’ glory is revealed alongside Moses and Elijah. It is a moment that confirms His mission and His authority as the one we must listen to above all others.Today’s Scripture:📖 Numbers 35–36:12 – The Levites are assigned their cities, including six "Cities of Refuge." We also see the final resolution concerning tribal inheritance, ensuring that the land God gave to each family remains within their tribe.📖 Luke 9:28–56 – Jesus takes Peter, John, and James up a mountain to pray and is transfigured before them. As they descend, Jesus heals a demon-possessed boy and begins to set His face toward Jerusalem, teaching His disciples that the Son of Man came not to destroy lives, but to save them.📖 Psalm 40:9–17 – A prayer of dependence: "As for me, I am poor and needy, but the Lord takes thought for me. Mapping the Promised Land & Feeding the 5,000 | Day 92
How far have you come, and where are you going? Today in Numbers, we review the "travel log" of Israel—a list of every stop from Egypt to the Jordan—reminding us that God was present in every camp along the way. We then see the specific boundaries of the land they are about to inherit. In the New Testament, we see Jesus provide a feast in the wilderness for 5,000 people, followed by a sobering conversation: if we want to inherit the Kingdom, we must be willing to take up our cross and follow Him.Today’s Scripture:📖 Numbers 33–34 – A historical recap of the journey from Rameses to the plains of Moab. This "itinerary of grace" is followed by God’s specific instructions for the borders of Canaan and the leaders appointed to divide the inheritance.📖 Luke 9:10–27 – Jesus feeds the 5,000 with just five loaves and two fish. Shortly after, Peter confesses Jesus as the Christ, and Jesus reveals that following Him involves self-denial and a daily commitment to the cross.📖 Proverbs 8:22–31 – A beautiful passage where Wisdom describes being present with God at the very beginning of creation, rejoicing in His inhabited world.RESOURCES & READ-ALONG 📺 Watch on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLYKi8-_5xHGL_nFAZOthHtZhcb4CqW4ZF 📖 Follow the Text (LEB): https://biblia.com/books/leb/ 🗓️ Download the Full Plan: https://www.biblica.com/resources/reading-plans/CONNECT & SUPPORT 📧 Questions? Faith in the Midst of Fear: Dividing the Spoil & Jesus Overcomes Death (Day 91)
What do you do when you are standing on the edge of a miracle? Today in Numbers, we see the intricate process of dividing the spoils of war and the request of Reuben and Gad to settle the land east of the Jordan—a request that tests the unity of the nation. In the New Testament, we witness two desperate stories of faith: a woman who had suffered for twelve years reaches out to touch the hem of Jesus’ garment, and a father watches in grief as his twelve-year-old daughter dies, only to see Jesus restore her life with a single command.Today’s Scripture:📖 Numbers 31:25–32:42 – The distribution of the plunder from Midian leads to a pivotal negotiation. The tribes of Reuben and Gad ask to stay in the fertile lands of Gilead, prompting a stern warning from Moses about the importance of helping the rest of Israel conquer the Promised Land.📖 Luke 8:40–9:9 – Two "twelve-year" stories collide: Jesus heals the woman with the issue of blood and then enters the house of Jairus to raise his daughter from the dead. Following these miracles, Jesus commissions the Twelve Apostles, giving them authority to preach and heal.📖 Psalm 40:1–8 – A song of deliverance and devotion: "I waited patiently for the Lord; he inclined to me and heard my cry." In My Father’s House: The Tabernacle Lamps & The Boy Jesus in the Temple (Day 78)
What does it mean to be at home in the presence of God? Today in Numbers, we see the completion of the tribal offerings, the lighting of the golden lampstand, and the purification of the Levites for their sacred work. In the Gospel of Luke, we find a twelve-year-old Jesus in the Temple, astounding the religious teachers with His wisdom and declaring His unique identity: "I must be in my Father’s house."Today’s Scripture:📖 Numbers 7:66–9:14 – The final offerings for the altar lead into the instructions for the Seven Lamps and the ordination of the Levites. We also see the provision for the "Second Passover," ensuring everyone has a way to remain in covenant with God.📖 Luke 2:41–52 – The only account of Jesus' childhood. After being lost for three days, His parents find Him in the Temple, revealing a young boy already fully consumed by His divine mission.📖 Psalm 35:11–18 – A cry for justice against malicious witnesses, concluding with a promise to give thanks in the "great congregation."RESOURCES & READ-ALONG 📺 Watch on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLYKi8-_5xHGL_nFAZOthHtZhcb4CqW4ZF 📖 Follow the Text (LEB): https://biblia.com/books/leb/ 🗓️ Download the Full Plan: https://www.biblica.com/resources/reading-plans/CONNECT & SUPPORT 📧 Questions? Passing the Torch & Preparing the Soil: Numbers 27–29 and the Parable of the Sower (Day 89)
How do we prepare for what’s next? Today in Numbers, we witness a bittersweet moment as Moses prepares for his departure, laying hands on Joshua to commission him as the next leader of Israel. We also revisit the "rhythm of worship" with a detailed look at the daily, weekly, and monthly offerings. In the Gospel of Luke, Jesus shifts His teaching to parables, specifically the Parable of the Sower, challenging us to examine the "soil" of our own hearts.Today’s Scripture:📖 Numbers 27:12–29:11 – God shows Moses the Promised Land from a distance and appoints Joshua as his successor. We then see a comprehensive list of the offerings required for the Sabbath, the New Moon, and the Appointed Feasts, emphasizing that God's people are to be a people of constant worship.📖 Luke 8:1–18 – Jesus travels through cities and villages, supported by a group of faithful women. He tells the Parable of the Sower, explaining that the way we "hear" the Word determines whether it takes root and bears fruit in our lives.📖 Psalm 38:12–22 – David concludes his prayer of lament with a final plea for God’s presence: "Do not forsake me, O Lord! A New Generation & Great Forgiveness: Numbers 26–27 and the Alabaster Flask (Day 88)
What does it look like to be counted by God? Today in Numbers, we see a second census—a counting of the new generation that survived the wilderness and is now preparing to enter the Promised Land. We also see God's justice in action through the daughters of Zelophehad. In the New Testament, we move from the "numbers" of a nation to the heart of an individual, as a woman with a "sinful" reputation interrupts a Pharisee’s dinner to wash Jesus’ feet with her tears.Today’s Scripture:📖 Numbers 26–27:11 – Forty years after the first census at Sinai, the new generation is numbered on the plains of Moab. Not one man from the original census remained, except Joshua and Caleb. We also see a landmark legal ruling as the daughters of Zelophehad petition for their father’s inheritance.📖 Luke 7:36–50 – While dining at the house of Simon the Pharisee, Jesus is anointed by a woman with an alabaster flask of perfume. Jesus uses the moment to teach that "he who is forgiven little, loves little," but she, having been forgiven much, loved greatly.📖 Proverbs 8:12–21 – Wisdom continues her appeal, declaring her hatred for pride and arrogance while promising that those who love her will inherit substance and filled treasuries.RESOURCES & READ-ALONG📺 Watch on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLYKi8-_5xHGL_nFAZOthHtZhcb4CqW4ZF📖 Follow the Text (LEB): https://biblia.com/books/leb/🗓️ Download the Full Plan: https://www.biblica.com/resources/reading-plans/CONNECT & SUPPORT📧 Questions? A Star Shall Come Out of Jacob: Balaam’s Oracles & The Widow’s Son (Day 87)
How does God turn a curse into a world-changing blessing? Today in Numbers, we reach the climax of the Balaam story. Despite King Balak’s fury, Balaam delivers a final oracle foretelling a "Star out of Jacob"—a prophecy that pointed straight to the Messiah. However, we also see the tragic turn at Peor, where Israel falls into idolatry. In the Gospel of Luke, we witness the Power behind the Prophecy as Jesus encounters a grieving widow in Nain and shows that He is the Lord of Life.Today’s Scripture:📖 Numbers 23:27–25:18 – Balaam’s final oracles describe the beauty and future triumph of Israel, including the famous prophecy of the "Star" and "Scepter." But the triumph is short-lived as the people are seduced into worshipping Baal of Peor, leading to Phinehas’ decisive action to stop the plague.📖 Luke 7:11–35 – Jesus raises the son of the widow of Nain, a miracle that causes the people to declare, "A great prophet has arisen among us!" We also hear Jesus’ tribute to John the Baptist and His rebuke of a generation that refuses to recognize the truth.📖 Psalm 38:1–11 – A heavy, penitential prayer of David, crying out to God in the midst of physical suffering and the abandonment of friends.RESOURCES & READ-ALONG 📺 Watch on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLYKi8-_5xHGL_nFAZOthHtZhcb4CqW4ZF 📖 Follow the Text (LEB): https://biblia.com/books/leb/ 🗓️ Download the Full Plan: https://www.biblica.com/resources/reading-plans/CONNECT & SUPPORT 📧 Questions? Seeing What the Prophet Missed: Balaam’s Donkey & The Centurion’s Faith (Day 86)
Who truly has "eyes to see" what God is doing? Today in Numbers, we follow the prophet Balaam as he sets out to curse Israel, only to be stopped in his tracks by his own donkey, who sees the Angel of the Lord when the prophet cannot. In the Gospel of Luke, Jesus challenges us to examine the "plank" in our own eyes and to build our lives on a firm foundation. We then meet a Roman Centurion whose spiritual vision is so clear that even Jesus is amazed by his faith.Today’s Scripture:📖 Numbers 22:21–23:26 – The famous account of Balaam’s donkey and the Angel of the Lord. Despite King Balak’s pressure, Balaam finds that he can only speak the words of blessing that God puts in his mouth.📖 Luke 6:37–7:10 – Jesus concludes the Sermon on the Plain with warnings against judgment and the parable of the two builders. He then enters Capernaum and heals the servant of a Centurion who understands authority better than most in Israel.📖 Psalm 37:32–40 – A final encouragement that while the wicked may seem to sprout like a green tree, the Lord is the stronghold of the righteous in times of trouble.RESOURCES & READ-ALONG 📺 Watch on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLYKi8-_5xHGL_nFAZOthHtZhcb4CqW4ZF 📖 Follow the Text (LEB): https://biblia.com/books/leb/ 🗓️ Download the Full Plan: https://www.biblica.com/resources/reading-plans/CONNECT & SUPPORT 📧 Questions? Look and Live: The Bronze Serpent & The Sermon on the Plain (Day 85)
What does it mean to "look and live"? Today in Numbers, we encounter the story of the Bronze Serpent—a remedy for judgment that Jesus later uses to explain His own mission. We also witness Israel’s military victories over Sihon and Og, and the introduction of Balaam. In the Gospel of Luke, Jesus spends a night in prayer before choosing His twelve apostles and then delivers a challenging message on what it looks like to live as a citizen of the Kingdom of God.Today’s Scripture:📖 Numbers 21:4–22:20 – The people grumble again and are bitten by fiery serpents, leading Moses to lift up the Bronze Serpent as a means of healing. Israel then secures major victories in the Transjordan before King Balak of Moab sends for the mysterious prophet Balaam.📖 Luke 6:12–36 – After choosing the Twelve, Jesus preaches the "Sermon on the Plain." He delivers the Beatitudes and the "Woes," ending with the radical command to "love your enemies" and be merciful as the Father is merciful.📖 Psalm 37:21–31 – A reflection on the character of the righteous: "The steps of a man are established by the Lord, when he delights in his way."RESOURCES & READ-ALONG 📺 Watch on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLYKi8-_5xHGL_nFAZOthHtZhcb4CqW4ZF 📖 Follow the Text (LEB): https://biblia.com/books/leb/ 🗓️ Download the Full Plan: https://www.biblica.com/resources/reading-plans/CONNECT & SUPPORT 📧 Questions?
