Whisking sweet dreams into reality, one apple tart at a time. 🍏✨ Learn how to make a delicious Apple tart this week on Pinch of Salt with Peter Goffe-Wood!🥧 🍴 This week's recipe is for a delicious Apple Tart: Ingredients: 1kg Granny Smith apples 50g butter 140g treacle sugar ½ tsp cinnamon 100g raisins 50ml dark rum For the pastry: 225g butter room temperature 50g sugar 2 eggs 350g flour Whipped cream to serve Method: Peel, quarter, core and the apples. Place the apples along with the rest of the filling ingredients in a saucepan and cook for 10min over a moderate heat. The apples should still be firm. For the pastry, beat the butter and sugar in a large bowl until just mixed. Break in a whole egg and a yolk (keep the white for glazing later). Beat together for just under 1 min – it will look a bit like scrambled egg. Now work in the flour with a wooden spoon, a third at a time, until it’s beginning to clump up, then finish gathering it together with your hands. Gently work the dough into a ball, wrap in cling film, and chill for 45 mins. After the pastry has chilled, heat the oven to 190C. Lightly beat the egg white with a fork. Cut off a third of the pastry and keep it wrapped while you roll out the rest, and use this to line a pie tin – 20-22cm round and 4cm deep – leaving a slight overhang. Roll the remaining third to a circle about 28cm in diameter. When the apple mixture has cooled, pile high into the pastry-lined tin. Brush a little water around the pastry rim and lay the pastry lid over the apples pressing the edges together to seal. Trim the edge with a sharp knife and make 5 little slashes on top of the lid for the steam to escape. (Can be frozen at this stage.) Brush it all with the egg white and sprinkle with caster sugar. Bake for 40- 45 mins, until golden, then remove and let it sit for 5-10 mins. Sprinkle with more sugar and serve while still warm from the oven with softly whipped cream. #PinchOfSalt #HoneyRecipes #CookingWithHoney #Foodie #CulinaryCreations #InTheZone #HelderbergFMWhisking sweet dreams into reality, one apple tart at a time. 🍏✨ Learn how to make a delicious Apple tart this week on Pinch of Salt with Peter Goffe-Wood!🥧 🍴 Tune in at 10:20 am on InTheZone with Megan Prinsloo, only on HelderbergFM 93.6! 🔥 #PinchOfSalt #HoneyRecipes #CookingWithHoney #Foodie #CulinaryCreations #InTheZone #HelderbergFM 📻 93.6fm | 💻 helderbergfm.co.za | 📱 WhatsApp 021 100 6936

Chesterton (1874 - 1936) LibriVox LibriVox volunteers bring you 9 recordings of The Song Against Songs by G. K. Chesterton. This was the Fortnightly Poetry project for October 16, 2011.Chesterton was a large man, standing 6 feet 4 inches (1.93 m) and weighing around 21 stone (130 kg; 290 lb). His girth gave rise to a famous anecdote. During World War I a lady in London asked why he was not 'out at the Front'; he replied, 'If you go round to the side, you will see that I am.' On another occasion he remarked to his friend George Bernard Shaw: "To look at you, anyone would think a famine had struck England". Shaw retorted, "To look at you, anyone would think you have caused it". P. G. Wodehouse once described a very loud crash as "a sound like Chesterton falling onto a sheet of tin."( Summary from Wikipedia ) Ragged Scratch Podcast Ragged Foils The Ragged Scratch Podcast is a new writing night… in podcast form!
