A Pod of Their Own, Episode 214: Tylor Megill is inevitable

from Home Run Applesauce: A New York Mets podcast · host Home Run Applesauce

Welcome back to A Pod of Their Own, an all-women led Home Run Applesauce podcast where we talk all things Mets, social justice issues in baseball, and normalize female voices in the sports podcasting space.  This week, we begin by discussing the incredible run the Mets went on in the past week, from which two things stood out: the incredible performance of the bullpen and Mark Vientos’ bat.  It hasn’t been all sunshine and rainbows, though. Jeff McNeil is out for the year with a wrist fracture and Paul Blackburn was scratched tonight after being slated to return from the injured list, so we also cover those injuries. We also take a moment to remember Ed Kranepool, who passed away at the age of 79. Next, we talk about ESPN using generative AI to write recaps instead of hiring actual writers.  Our 2024 Dollars for Dingers campaign is underway and you can make a pledge using this Google spreadsheet: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1n2eZFl_nmzP4C83ccbb61Ggwz2r7m-kapJ6L0SXz4IU/edit?usp=sharing We also hope to see you on September 21st at EBBS at Citi Field at 1:30pm for our raffle event prior to the Mets game!  Finally, we wrap things up with Walk-off Wins, where each of us talks about what’s making us happy this week, baseball-related or otherwise.  You can listen or subscribe to all of our wonderful Home Run Applesauce podcasts through Apple Podcasts, where we encourage you to leave a review if you enjoy the show.
