A TYPICAL AFRICAN HOME ON SUNDAY

Africa Sunday as a College Student Living Alone Man, Sundays in Nigeria will humble you if you live alone 😂 I didn’t sleep all night. Eyes wide open till like 7am, scrolling and doing nothing. By the time I remembered church was 9am I just said let me manage 2hrs sleep. Woke up 9:29am, brushed, wore anything I saw and still got to church 9:49am. I entered looking like someone that just woke up from a war. Today was prayer service so forget sermon. Pastor just gave us prayer points back to back. We were shouting “fire fire” almost 2 hours straight. My voice was already going by 11am. Service closed 11:45am but that’s where the real Sunday stress started. We had meeting till 12:30pm, then one brother held me to gist about school stuff. Before I knew it, 1:45pm already. I got home tired and my stomach was making noise. But I couldn’t rest because communion with Pastor Chris was 3pm. So I just rushed to boil water, made noodles, and started ironing my shirt at the same time. Living alone means nobody will cook for you or say “wake up, you’re late”. If you miss church, it’s your fault. Now as I’m typing this, it’s like 2:50pm and I’m trying to force food down before I go out. My body is tired but my spirit is saying go. That’s how Africa Sunday is for me - no sleep, rush from house to church, church to meeting, meeting to gist, then back to church again. It’s stressful but I still love it.
