"A Vulnerable Creative" with Anaitha Nair

from Over Forty Wellness Podcast · host vincent

My guest on the podcast this week is Anaitha Nair. Anaitha spent the first 8y of her life in Saudi Arabia. Later she moved to Bombay where she became an actor. Fully supported by her parents Anaitha did a whole bunch of movies over a period of 6 years, a fun ride. She was also a singer and used to compare a lot. With a can-do attitude and a firm belief in what she could and couldn’t do. Anaitha is by profession a creative, currently a hairdresser in Hong Kong and a believer that one’s life should never be limited to being defined by what we do. In the podcast we go in detail how Anaitha assists her clients by providing an intimate environment whilst working with her clients to enhance their hairdressing experience and results.  A big believer of sharing life experiences, especially ones that make us vulnerable. Anaitha believes that when we experience vulnerable difficulties in life we share a common thread of experience. We can’t have success without setbacks and they are they are the only recipe for growth.Timing 3:54 I spent the first 8y of my life in Saudi Arbia… before moving back to India…moved to Bombay as an actor…4:38 Acting was something that tickled my fancy… did a whole bunch of movies, ads… for 6 years…7:38 I have wonderful parents… acting is what I wanted to do … they supported me… It was a fun ride…12:06 With a can-do attitude…have belief in what you can and cannot do… be honest with where your skill sets lie…13:08 The stories that stay with me today … were more the rejections… the movies I missed out on… 14:31 I was also a singer… I used to compare a lot…15:33 Moved to Hong Kong… taught for a while…16:04 Hair was something I enjoyed…I decided to give it a shot…. the best thing that could have happened…17:36 [Assisting people]… With hair there are two parts… a tangible result… an intimate environment… intimacy…19:19 I’m exposed to women from such different walks of life… ages… stages…I become a part of their story…21:49 My empathy levels are high… the beauty of human experience is it is shared… people share their experiences…25:00 I have never been ashamed of my mistakes, never been embarrassed to be vulnerable… sharing often elicits a response… 27:08 One of the greatest things about pain or hardship is there is so much growth that comes out it…28:01 I think growing has a lot to do with what stage of life you are in…28:40 Two of the most pivotable experiences…my parents getting older and unwell…growth moments… it rewires your brain…30:48 Today I am able to have an objective relationship with clients and their stories… I am not invested in it…31:31 [Changes in last 14y]…social media, more informed… aspiring to have instant glamour… need to be realistic… 35:10 I don’t like to say no…anything is achievable… with options…explaining the science …make an informed decision… 37:54 [Insecurities]… It is wrong to feed insecurities… important is to support self-love…41:02:47 [Being the best version of oneself]… You have put yourself out there … live through the journey… when you are afraid of something just do it… you have to start…45:11 [Challenge and how to overcome it] For me the hardest ones are the mental ones… accept the situation you don’t want to face… 48:02 [Setbacks] You can’t have success without setbacks… explaining it to oneself… the only recipe for growth…49:56 [Key Message]…Gratitude and acceptance… Contact AnaithaIG: https://www.instagram.com/anaithanair/FB: https://www.facebook.com/search/top?q=anaitha%20nairContact VincentNewsletter: https://vincent1cd.substack.comPro Coach:  https://procoach.app/vincent-hiscoxEmail: [email protected]: Vincent Hiscox
