आशयः तु इत्थम्

कदाचित् शिष्यः आनन्दः प्रसङ्गत्रयविषये वर्तमानां जिज्ञासां परिहर्तुं भगवन्तं बुद्धं पृच्छति - ‘भगवान् अस्ति इति कदाचित् वदति । भगवतः‌ पूजा मास्तु इत्यपि वदति । भगवतः अस्तित्वस्य विषये यदा कश्चन शिष्यः प्रष्टुम् आगतः तदा भवान् किमपि उत्तरं न ददाति । किमर्थम् एवम् ?’ इति । तदा बुद्धः यथाक्रमं तस्य प्रश्नस्य उत्तरं यच्छति(“केन्द्रीयसंस्कृतविश्वविद्यालयस्य अष्टादशीयोजनान्तर्गततया एतासां कथानां ध्वनिप्रक्षेपणं क्रियते”)Once, disciple Anand, who was curious about three related matters, asked the Buddha to clear his doubts. He said, 'Lord, sometimes you say that God exists. At other times, you say that God should not be worshiped. When another disciple came to ask about the existence of God, you did not give any answer. Why is this?' Then, the Buddha, in due course, gave a response to his question.
