आत्मनः परिष्काराय प्रयासः

महेन्द्रनाथगुप्तः रामकृष्णपरमहंसस्य शिष्यः । सः वादशीलः । सर्वदा कमपि अंशम् अधिकृत्य सः परमहंसेन सह वादं करोति स्म । अथ कदाचित् सः परमहसम् अपृच्छत् 'भगवान् साकारः उत निराकारः?’ इति । अग्रे तयोः मध्ये सुदीर्घा चर्चा अभवत् । महेन्द्रनाथः परमहंसेन बोधितमेव मनसि आकलयन् ततः निर्गतवान् ।(“केन्द्रीयसंस्कृतविश्वविद्यालयस्य अष्टादशीयोजनान्तर्गततया एतासां कथानां ध्वनिप्रक्षेपणं क्रियते”)Mahendranath Gupta was a disciple of Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa. He was fond of debate and often argued with the Master on various topics. Once, he asked, “Is God with form or without form?” A long discussion followed between them. Mahendranath, reflecting deeply on what the Master taught, left with the lesson impressed upon his mind.
