About 500 asylum seekers await safe accommodation in Durban

from Update@Noon · host SAfm

More buses are expected to arrive at Durban's old drive in today as efforts intensify to clear what is hoped is the last group of Malawian nationals still camped outside the decommissioned temporary repatriation site.Leader of the Malawian community in KwaZulu Natal, Adam Ali, says one bus has already been confirmed, while he is appealing to donors and organisations to help secure four more. The appeal follows the departure of 11 buses carrying more than 700 people on Friday, and another bus that left on Sunday. Ali says about 386 people -that mostly spent the weekend camped outside -are still waiting to be transported to Musina before being repatriated to Malawi.
