Abuse Doesn't Always Leave Bruises Day 5
from Hope when there was none Hosted by Melinda Kunst
We are on day 5 of all things related to domestic abuse and I'm talking about Emotional Abuse. Now, here's something I wish more people understood that, you can be deeply hurt by someone without ever having a bruise. Emotional abuse can involve humiliation, intimidation, threats, manipulation, constant criticism, gaslighting, or deliberately making someone question their own memory and judgment. Maybe you're constantly told you're too sensitive. Maybe you're told something never happened when you know it did. Maybe you're punished with silence. Maybe you're made to feel like every problem in the relationship is your fault and eventually, you start questioning yourself. - Maybe I am the problem. - Maybe I'm remembering it wrong. - Maybe I'm being dramatic. If someone says, 'But they never hit you,' I want you to remember: Physical violence is not the only form of abuse and you don't have to convince everyone else that your experience was painful before you're allowed to acknowledge it yourself. Someone out there needs to know they are not alone and that they can survive. Perhaps you are a parent or friend of someone trapped in an abusive relationship and need to know how to help. My goal is to share awareness, offer empowerment, and educate others about emotional traumas and domestic abuse.
