Accountability and Friendships

from The Empowering Minds Mental Health™ Podcast · host J. Moore

Accountability means having to take responsibility for what you do and the choices you make, as well as the results that come from them. I tmeans you have to explain yourself to others, like a person, a group, or an organization, and face the outcomes of your actions. In the bigger picture, accountability helps make things clear, builds trust, and keeps people acting fairly and honestly in their personal lives, at work, and in society.  Jesus says in Matthew 12:36-37, "I want you to know that everyone will have to explain themselves on the day of judgment for every careless thing they've said. Your words will show if you are innocent or guilty." This part of the Bible reminds us that we are responsible for what we say.  Biblical accountability is about living a life that is transparent, responsible, and in alignment with God's will, supported by a community that encourages and corrects each other in love.
