She’s spent that time growing her knowledge around why, despite years of hard slog, most small businesses either fail or just survive. In the early ‘90s three things happened that changed the course of Serena’s life and set her on a journey to help businesses. First she lost her home, due to interest rates at reaching 15%. Then the business she worked for went bust overnight. Finally she watched her parents lose their dream business, a hotel in Scotland, because of the recession. Serena needed answers, so set out on a mission that still drives her to this day; Get business owners the financial rewards, freedom and lifestyle they thought owning a business would give them, instead of a life of stress, financial worry and compromise. In 2012 Serena set up The F Word, to achieve her mission.
