In this chapter, Paul arrives in Ephesus and encounters disciples who had received John’s baptism but had not yet fully understood the work of the Holy Spirit through Jesus Christ. As Paul teaches, baptizes, and lays hands on them, the Holy Spirit comes upon them. Paul continues teaching boldly, and God performs extraordinary miracles through him. But this chapter also shows us the danger of using the name of Jesus without truly knowing Him. The sons of Sceva attempt to imitate spiritual authority, but they are overpowered. As a result, fear falls on many, believers confess their sins, and people burn books connected to sorcery.
