ADHD - Family Observations

from Dr G's ADHD Chat · host Dr. Terry James Gingras, PhD

In this episode, Dr. G relates his experiences as a neurotypical who married into an undiagnosed neurodivergent family( pretty much everyone  was undiagnosed back in those days). The family members were all different  degrees of ADHD. Parents were particularly well educated - Mom was Phi Beta Kappa and Dad was a physician. One brother also became a doctor and the other brother has a master's degree. So this was a high functioning but disorganized group. Dr G went from boyfriend to husband and soon learned that he sometimes needed to take a break and get off by himself when visiting this crew. Each family member had developed their own strategy for coping with their undiagnosed ADHD. We'll review these as well. Thank you for tuning into this episode of our podcast.
