AFLW: Áine McDonagh chats to Galway Bay FM's Darren Kelly about Australia and representin Ireland in Australian Rules

History will be made on Saturday, 1st August when Ireland take on Australia in a first ever Australian Rules Football Women's International at the North Sydney Oval. The Irish contingent has grown from strength to strength down under with 46 players currenlty playing professional including Maigh Cuilinn's Áine McDonagh who has become one of game's top players. In four seasons with Hawthorn, she has gone from rookie to All-Australian and has become one of the three fastest players ever to score 50 goals (in just 41 outings). Áine will be part of the 25-person squad that takes on Australia in August and is part of the leadership group with her club.  She joined Galway Bay FM's Darren Kelly on 'Over The Line' to chat about her career over the last two years and the upcoming international in Sydney. == Ireland take on Australia at the Nroth Sydney Oval on Saturday, 1st August 2026 at 7.15am Irish time.
