Air Crews Unleash Water And Retardant On Hardin Fire In California

Napa County, California – Improved mapping has updated the Hardin Fire to 78.6 acres with 60 percent containment. A rapid and coordinated response from firefighters on the ground and in the air prevented any structures from being damaged or destroyed. The fire burned primarily in annual grasses and spread at a moderate rate. Volunteer firefighters from the Napa County Fire Department played a critical role in the response by deploying three water tenders and one engine to the incident. An additional engine was staffed to continue fire protection for the Spanish Flat community and the Lake Berryessa area. Aerial and ground footage showed firefighters and aircraft working along the Hardin Fire perimeter in grassy terrain. Helicopters released water while air tankers laid down retardant lines to help contain the blaze as crews mopped up hot spots and smoke drifted across the landscape near Lake Berryessa.
