Connect With Alfa A native of Brooklyn, NY, Alfatari, “Alfa,” Richards has been a music aficionado for as long as he can remember. He has always been fascinated by music of all kinds at a young age, having a special affinity for jazz. Alfa attended the Choir Academy of Harlem, and toured with the famed Boys Choir of Harlem for 8 years. During his studies at Long Island University, he obtained a BA in Jazz Performance and International Music Expression. This degree led him to a myriad of opportunities, one of which was traveling to 13 countries in Africa (Mozambique, Kenya, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Ghana, Burkina Faso, to name a few) teaching and facilitating expressive arts for youth and community development. In the midst of reaching and inspiring many through performing arts, Alfa has also developed programs to implement facilitation for parent development and redevelopment through a parenting consulting business titled Humanhood101. Alfa continues to give lectures and workshops at schools, community centers, and community based events with hopes to enhance and bring new development to the parent experience. Alfa continues to utilize his artistic gifts and talents as he also infuses performing arts with interactive self actualization activities which allow both parents and children to form and develop communication and self reflection skills.
