Just 18 months after the two for-profits started providing medical and psychiatric care in state prisons and The Palm Beach Post linked them to a rapid rise in inmate deaths. In February of this year the Florida Department of Corrections announced that five-year contracts with Corizon Inc. and Wexford Health Sources Inc., valued at more than $1.3 billion, would be cancelled and the contract put out for bid. MO DOC also contracts with Corizon Health Inc to provide medical care for prisoners and there have been similar reports of denial of care in Missouri as well. Host…
