America's Colonizer Mentality Is on Shameful Display for the World to See
from Walter Rhein Podcast · host Walter Rhein
Yesterday the United States of America launched an illegal assault on a foreign nation. They kidnapped the president and left around 40 people dead. Yet the death count is rarely mentioned in the media. Instead, they’re reporting on this shameful action with a smug and self-righteous attitude. The reality is that America is so openly racist that many of the citizens put an asterisk in the death count when the deceased are members of a marginalized group. Their self-righteous chest thumping about the value of “all” life goes out the window when they murder members of a population they wish to obliterate.Today, we’re living in a country that’s being run by a white supremacy organization. Yet, even the resistance is more likely to refer to it as “fascist.” They’ve openly restored the name of Confederate soldiers to military bases. The indoctrination among white people not to recognize the abuses of white supremacy is so strong that the general population pretends not to notice. But we need to speak it plainly. The US government is being run by the KKK. It’s as if the Confederacy can finally declare victory in the Civil War. Yet even if the Republicans declared they were going to move the Capitol to Richmond, the majority of white Americans would still keep their heads stubbornly embedded in the sand.My wife is from South America and I lived there for 10 years. I’ve been to Venezuela twice. It’s a beautiful country filled with kind people who did not deserve to be targeted this way.I have a hard time listening to the media reports that are attempting to frame this as “good” for Venezuela. Somehow they’re overlooking the fact that this administration has spent the last year demonizing people from that country. They’ve been rounding them up and falsely accusing them of being members of gangs. They’ve sent them to torture camps in El Salvador. They’ve been murdering innocent fishermen out at sea. They’re making obnoxious claims about drugs even though this administration does absolutely nothing to help American citizens with abuse issues. The media has clearly been attempting to manufacture consent for this war for some time now, but they’re so incompetent and lazy that it’s easy to see right through their efforts. My greatest disappointment is reserved for people like Adam Kinzinger who tweeted that this was “the right call.”Excuse me? Launching an illegal attack that leaves 40 people dead is the “right call.” What the hell? And please don’t try to add the “people of Venezuela be free” line at the end. This government has spent the last year hunting the people of Venezuela. It doesn’t even see them as human beings. Mention that in your tweet. But this tweet also confirms my growing suspicions about Kinzinger. He’s a guy who pretends to be our friend and then he regularly comes up and sabotages us at the last minute. He’s not our friend, and I don’t know why people financially support that millionaire. He’s clearly a saboteur. This attack was not “the right call.”How dare he put “Slava Ukraini” in his profile and then support the exact same type of terrorist military aggression from our own country. I’m absolutely disgusted.I know people in Venezuela. Fortunately they’re okay, but don’t instantly believe the video that’s being shown of people celebrating in the street. Again, Americans are inclined to believe that kind of propaganda because they know absolutely nothing about South America.Yesterday morning, I turned to my wife to get her assessment of this issue. She looked like she’d been gut punched. Ever since that orange post turtle came down his golden elevator, my family has known it’s been targeted for extermination. Now the United States is making encroachments upon South America. This is a xenophobic administration. They want to murder everyone. They want to abduct children to feed their child trafficking network. At some point, the white people in the United States who like to think of themselves as good people have to wake up and recognize that our society is tainted by the evil of white supremacy.I’ve been fighting this battle for a while, and I can tell you right now that the worst people I’ve met are the ones who turn to me and say “don’t lump us all in” or “not all of us.” Those are the ones who passively enable an unjust system they refuse to even recognize, and turn every narrative to protecting their own ego rather than obliterating the problem.I’ve also seen, through firsthand experience, how those people who manifest a passive resistance when you mention the problem, are the first ones to actively betray you when the opportunity arises.Know the danger people. We can’t defeat our enemy until we recognize our enemy. When I lived in South America, nobody ever believed the United States was there to help. They laughed at this. They said, “If the US gives you a dollar, it’s because they intend to rob ten.”Heck, even the people of the United States know our government is crooked. They often repeat Reagan’s line about the most terrifying words being, “I work for the government, I’m here to help.” Yet even though that inane phrase is repeated endlessly, we can all pivot on a dime and believe the government when they claim they murdered 40 people and kidnapped a leader to be helpful?Get your head out of the sand people. After I saw the illegal terror attack on Venezuela, I took a day to try and wrestle with my emotions. Elizabeth Silleck La Rue, Esq. wrote an article where she urges people to stop viewing this as a “distraction.” People are dead.We have to stop allowing our government and our media and our fellow citizens to look upon the attacks of foreign nations and twist ourselves into somehow thinking it was “the right call.” There is a legal process for doing something like this. If anything is worth doing, it’s worth doing legally.Venezuela does not need the people of the United States to tell them how to do their business. It’s telling that even though immigration has been a major political issue for as long as I can remember, nobody ever mentions how much it’s driven by the incompetent meddling of the US government in foreign nations. The United States goes into other countries, disposes their leaders, installs a corrupt dictator who is loyal to the United States, and destroys the nation entirely. Human beings then have to migrate because their nation is destroyed. This is the colonizer mentality. We move in, we take everything that’s there, we exterminate the people who live there, and then we complain when the survivors wash up on our shores. But yeah, white Americans like to believe they’re good people. Actually, I’m starting to realize why they keep their heads so firmly rooted in the sand. If they sit up and look upon the carnage and destruction they’ve wrought, their egos can’t survive. They have to put aside their delusion that they’re champions of the oppressed and have to recognized that they are, in fact, the oppressor. It’s time we accept the truths that are self-evident and established a nation based on tolerance and cooperation that was willing to help our fellow human beings. That’s not what we are. This is a bully state that wastes all its money on death and oppression. You all make this newsletter happen! Thanks for your sponsorship!
