Jacob Olie, pionier op het gebied van fotografie en timmerman, legde van 1860 tot 1905 het snelgroeiende Amsterdam vast. Zijn omvangrijke foto-archief is nog altijd van groot belang voor de kennis over de stad. Hoe ging hij te werk met zijn zelfgebouwde camera en wat kwam hij onderweg tegen? Programmamaker Joan Veldkamp maakte de documentaire ‘Amsterdam, de stad van olie’ over haar betovergrootvader Jacob Olie. Enkele nummers in de documentaire komen van de elpee Traveller van het Jacob Olie Trio. De violiste woonde in het huis van Olie en het trio zegt over zichzelf dat ze spelen zoals Jacob Olie fotografeerde.
