Amy Rankin Who Proved "Them" Wrong on Recovery Now with Kim Justus

from A Recovery Now · host Kim Justus

Join me with Amy Rankin, who not only took a baseball bat to the eye, but suffered a tragic car accident at the hands of a drunk driver. Amy had a fractured skull, went through extensive brain procedures to mitigate further complications. She was told after the accident she would never walk, talk, or eat again. Then after a series of intense struggles and challeges, she was blessed to find a Rehab Facility who helped her buck the odds. Amy went on to co-write a book with her therapist Ginger Farr, Nobody Thought I Could Do It, But I Showed Them and So Can You. The tittle comes from that first hospital, where they said “she wouldnever”...  To where she proved them wrong, as many of us are blessed to do. Now Amy volunteers at a day program for other TBI Survivors, Choices for Change, a place for other TBI Survivors to be social with one another, work on some ADL skills and go on various outings.  This show is a gathering place for anyone seeking recovery from the challenges of life on life's terms. We discuss useful tools that have helped us lighten the load, of our journey through recovery. This is a "we" recovery program, because it is in the "we," that we find the new "me." We focus on the four A's of Recovery: Awareness, Acceptance, Action and Adaptation. This is a place for survivor's striving to become thrivers - which takes a huge Warrior spirit! Front part of show is a featured guest. The second is Open Mic and some great Indy Music sure to inspire! Host is Kim Justus, author of In a Flash: Miracles Here and Beyond found at inaflash.org & "Like" at facebook.com/inaflash.org
