One year after KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Lieutenant-General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi made explosive allegations of corruption, criminal infiltration within law enforcement and political interference in policing. Mkhwanazi alleged that Police Minister Senzo Mchunu unlawfully disbanded the Political Killings Task Team and ordered the seizure of its case dockets. The allegations prompted President Cyril Ramaphosa to establish the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry, chaired by retired Constitutional Court Justice Mbuyiseli Madlanga. Since commencing its work, the commission has heard testimony from about 80 witnesses, examining allegations of corruption and criminal networks within law enforcement agencies.SABC reporter Sibahle Motha fied this report,  Sakina Kamwendo further spoke to Independent security analyst Azaniah Mnisi.
