Ancient Arrogance Dismissing Youth
from Hasrizal · host Hasrizal Abdul Jamil
Let’s break down how some political figures quickly dismiss the youth. Did you hear about Hillary Clinton calling American college students protesting for Palestine ignorant of history? That’s quite a statement, especially about these students, supposedly the cream of the cream, from top American universities. This is not a modern issue. The arrogance is ancient. As ancient as the humans themselves. It echoes a story from the Quran, where the young Prophet Ibrahim - peace be upon him - challenges the older leaders, the elites. In Chapter 21, Verse 60, the response he receives is dismissive: “We heard about this young man who speaks ill about them, what was his name again? Ibrahim!?” The way they mockingly struggle to recall his name shows their attempt to undermine him, not by debating facts, but by belittling his youth. This kind of dismissal is an ad hominem attack, discrediting the person because they are young, assuming they lack knowledge or understanding. But here’s a reality check: age does not define the validity of one's arguments. Don’t be discouraged by this tactic. Remember, this same elite arrogance contributed to Hillary Clinton's loss to Trump. It’s a reminder that those who fail to respect and engage with all voices, regardless of age, risk becoming irrelevant. Keep raising your voice. Truth matters, no matter who speaks it or their age. Your perspective is valid. Stay informed, stay vocal! #YouthVoice #palestine #alleyesonrafah #eyesonrafah #gaza #endgenocide #palestine🇵🇸 #bebaspalestin #فلسطين #فلسطين🇵🇸 #غزة #الأقصى
