Andy introduced A&M Transport, a family-owned company since 1972, and discussed his efforts since 2015 to ensure the trucking industry is represented on workforce boards across Oregon, addressing the initial lack of representation. He explained the function of workforce boards, established during Bill Clinton's presidency, which help guide industry funding while emphasizing private sector participation. Andy highlighted a significant $3.4 million EDA grant aimed at training 325 drivers through CDL programs in southwestern Oregon, underscoring the collaborative role of the Oregon Trucking Association in shaping workforce policy. He encouraged participants to engage with local workforce boards, advocate for the transportation sector, and acknowledged ongoing support from the American Trucking Association.
