You see, marriage isn’t ultimately a government, social, or cultural institution. It’s God’s institution! Genesis records the origin of marriage. God created male and female and brought them together to become one flesh. This first marriage establishes God’s design for marriage. Because God is our Creator, only he has authority to define marriage: and he says it’s between one man and one woman—that’s the only true marriage. We shouldn’t just follow our culture’s thinking.
