Apology of Socrates-Plato (Πλάτων)

from Furies (Morshead Translation) · host Aeschylus

The "Apology of Socrates" by Plato presents a profound exploration of Socratic philosophy through the account of Socrates' defense during his trial. This timeless dialogue delves into themes of virtue, wisdom, and the pursuit of truth, as Socrates challenges the moral and ethical standards of his time. Hearing this work now invites reflection on the enduring questions of justice, integrity, and the role of the individual in society. As Socrates stands firm in his beliefs despite the consequences, listeners are encouraged to contemplate their own convictions and the importance of questioning the status quo.

The Art of Arms l’Arte Dell Armi At the Art of Arms we have one solitary vision, to bring the historical martial arts we study as HEMA or WMA practitioners to life by telling the stories of those who lived it. The hours of research, writing, transcription and translation are worth it when we get to see Altoni’s Spiedo section in action at the Baglioni Palazzo, Fiore’s armor techniques displayed on the battlefields of San Giovanni in Persiceto, Liectenauer’s rossfechten techniques thundering across the terrain of southern Germany, the Anonimo’s sword and gauntlet brought to bear in the lists of Mantua; these are the moments where history and martial arts meet, and we’re dedicated to bringing these moments to you our dear listeners. We hope you enjoy! The Law Dave Jones This translation of The Law was done by Dean Russell of The Foundation staff. His objective was an accurate rendering of Mr. Bastiat's words and ideas into twentieth century, idiomatic English. A nineteenth century translation of The Law, made in 1853 in England by an unidentified contemporary of Mr. Bastiat, was of much value as a check against this translation. In addition, Dean Russell had his work reviewed by Bertrand de Jouvenel, the noted French economist, historian, and author who is also thoroughly familiar with the English language. While Mr. de Jouvenel offered many valuable corrections and suggestions, it should be clearly understood that Dr. Russell bears full responsibility for the translation.
