Are We Missing the Point of Christmas?

Today, we are presented with a "sanitized" version of Christmas with images of a clean, beautiful stable complete with a nice crib from a department store - when the manger, in reality, held the hay that fed the cattle. There's no accident that this God, who decided to be with us, was born in a feeding station, to nourish our brokenness and to feed our hungry souls. God stepped out of God's comfort zone to live among us. Have we stepped out of our comfort zone to be aware of the less fortunate, the poor and sick in our society? Christmas is not a department store window display. It's a celebration of love in the ruins of our lives. Jesus had no room at the inn. Let's make room for Him in our hearts. -Christmas Homily by Fr.
