Are We Taking God for Granted?

The church symbolizes a place of worship where we intimately meet and converse with God. It's at the Eucharist where we receive and experience the true, living God. In the Gospel reading today, we see Jesus getting angry at the money changers at the temple. They represented the loss of the sacred, and people could not pray and worship. The beginning of the loss of sacred begins with small things, but it will snowball into ungodly habits. It could be as simple as a lack of preparation for Mass and disinterest in participating in the Eucharist. Today's Gospel is a warning to beware of that loss of the sense of sacred in our lives. Is my worship of God merely becoming external? Do I consider Mass as a ritual and obligatory exercise rather than a personal experience with God? Are we taking God for granted? -Sunday Homily by Fr.
