Are We There Yet?

It never fails that on every road trip someone eventually asks, “Are we there yet?” While innocent on the surface, the underlying implication of the question is: “I’m tired of driving and I want to be done.” Most of the time we hear this question, we just tell our kids to stop asking. But what if we were to respond by stopping the car? What if we made “there” here? What if we were to sacrifice the ultimate for the immediate? What would we lose? Would the sacrifice be worth it?
