Are you blaming your drinking on other people?
from The Radical Healing Podcast with Jessica Betancourt · host Jessica Betancourt
What happens in an intense emotional response that triggers anger, frustration, overwhelm is our bodies become flooded with adrenaline and adrenaline, just like food, needs to be processed, basically metabolized, by the body and transformed into another type of energy and then released from the body. But what happens when you take a drink to turn off those emotions, is you derail your body’s natural ability to self-regulate and the emotions do not complete the metabolic process and they become stuck and they stagnate, they stay WITH you.Alcohol really affects our minds, bringing us down a path of the kind of “I suck” story that leads us into unhelpful behavior. If you’re not feeling great about your interactions or experiences with other people, alcohol will commiserate with you, but it ultimately will not help you.You are your own hero. You can seriously, pretty instantaneously make yourself feel more empowered, and then feel better about yourself by owning your feelings and assessing the stories that you’re telling yourself. And then, tell yourself better stories.Love,Jess @blessedvida.wellnessBegin your journey to healing alcohol addiction with your Alcohol Awareness Breakthrough ConversationUn-WINED!
