The National Guard’s presence in #DC continues, with unique forms of pushback from citizens and grand juries. ICE has a chilling effect on DC residents and also recently raided/arrested around 400 South Korean workers at a Georgia car battery plant. Immigration lawyers say many of the arrested workers were in the US with permission and B-1 visas, though the #Trump Admin claims they were unauthorized to be working at the site and must be sent back to South Korea. After an appeals court ruled against Trump’s unilaterally imposed emergency #tariffs, the Supreme Court is now scheduled to hear the case very soon, and Justice #AmyConeyBarrett released a new book, Listening to the Law. #Nepal is also experiencing a revolt that led to the parliament being set ablaze, and the Prime Minister stepping aside; at least 19 died during the #GenZprotests, which in part stemmed form fury over social media bans, #Nepobaby culture, wealth inequality, and potential government corruption.
