As Surely as the LORD Lives

'As surely as the LORD lives' is a solemn oath used by God several times in the Bible.  God swears by Himself to fulfill a promise or judgment to His people.  The Israelites also began using 'as surely as the LORD lives,' to fulfill their vows are and pledges.  God is eternal and His Word is also eternal.  Ezekiel 33:11 says, "Say to them, 'As surely as I live, declares the Sovereign LORD, I take no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but rather that they turn from their evil ways and live.
