Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of the Lenten season which is a period of renewal of faith in preparation for the celebration of Easter. The readings of today’s Holy Mass invite the faithful to return to the Lord with all their heart. Armed with the spiritual weapons of prayer, fasting and almsgiving, the faithful embarks on this Lenten journey, confronting his or her spiritual struggles but constantly relying on God’s grace attained by the event of the Cross.
