Ask Michael: Isn't the Bible Wrong About the Size of a Mustard Seed?

Was Jesus incorrect when He was sharing the Parable of the Mustard Seed that is recorded in Matthew 13:31-32? He claims that the mustard seed is the smallest of all the seeds and that it will grow into a tree that is larger than all the plants. But though the seed is indeed quite small, it will only grow to a tree about eight feet tall. Is this an error in the Bible? Or is there a reasonable explanation as to why Jesus said this?
