"Assisted Fertility" with Adeline Ma

My guest on the podcast  is Adeline Ma, IVF / ART -Assisted reproductive technology consultant & coach.  A wife and mother of two children both conceived through assisted reproduction whilst Adeline was in her forties. Shortly after she gave birth to her son at 48 years of age friends approached her for insight and support on their own ART challenges. From this, her professional consulting and coaching service was launched.  Adeline assists prospective parents to navigate their way through the complexity of ART to achieve the best possible outcome for each ART treatment and troubleshoot treatment options. Typical clients are married couples and we go into detail in the podcast on how Adeline assists her clients to optimise their treatment and how her clients can assist themselves by becoming pro-active. The assisted fertility journey to parenthood is complex from many perspectives including procedural, financial and emotional and we discuss these and other elements in the podcast. It’s a heavy financial burden…10:18 The most common type would be IVF or ICSI they are similar… eggs are fertilised with a sperm in the lab… and transferred back into the woman11:30 After that the option would be egg donors … either with partner sperm or donor sperm…12:41 In HK you have to be married to get IVF…I gave birth to our daughter at the age of 42 on our first try of IVF…13:53 We wanted a sibling for our daughter… I was 43 it failed…15:37 We had no idea it would take 5-6 years of a struggle to get there… 16:41 Given the high cost of fertility treatment all of our clients are quite affluent… subsidised IVF in HK is quite restrictive18:39  It can be tough on the relationship… 22:26 I don’t see anyone that would go into massive debt…24:47 In Hong Kong right now there is subsidised IVF at three public hospitals… the waiting list is long…27:09 My clients become pro-active patients… I do a lot of research and due diligence.
