At least 12,000 people killed in recent days in Iran

Samira Hosseini is an Iranian national with refugee status in Iceland. Hosseini says she has information indicating that Iran’s clerical regime has killed up to 12,000 protesters in recent days and warns that the authorities may attempt to crush the uprising through even greater loss of life.She says many Iranians are calling on the international community — including the United States — to intervene and support the protesters. Her hope is that Prince Reza Pahlavi will be able to return to Iran and help lead the country toward a secular democratic society where women’s rights and fundamental human rights are respected.Hosseini also speaks about her experience in Iceland, saying she has largely been welcomed, while noting that in recent days she has heard claims portraying Iranian refugees as agents of Israeli and U.S. intelligence services.
