ATNS implements measures to prevent OR Tambo delays.

from Update@Noon · host SAfm

Air Traffic and Navigation Services says flight operations at OR Tambo International Airport have stabilised and are running normally. This follows delays and diversions experienced yesterday (on Sunday) as thousands of travellers returned from the festive break. ATNS has clarified that disruptions were caused by a combination of severe thunderstorms and temporary staff shortages at air traffic control, after some employees failed to report for duty. Sakina Kamwendo spoke to Mpilo Dlamini, Head of Corporate Affairs and Communications at Air Traffic and Navigation Services (ATNS).
