Though under house arrest for two years (Acts 28:22–31), Paul proclaims Christ and the kingdom “with all boldness and without hindrance.” Luke deliberately leaves Acts open‑ended (for example, there is no reference to Paul's final trial and execution) to show that the mission to the ends of the earth is 'unfinished business' and we today must imitate the Apostle in his unavoidable commitment to preach the gospel to all. This commitment is demonstrated in our passage as Paul meets with Jewish leaders in Rome, systematically proves that Jesus is the Christ from the Law and the Prophets, and explains that because many Jews reject the message, God’s salvation is now going to the Gentiles.
