Friends of the Rosary,Today, August 1, is the Memorial of St. Alphonsus de Liguori (1696-1787), bishop and doctor of the Church and founder of the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer, the Redemptorists, a congregation of priests and brothers.As our Lord did the Apostles, Alphonsus de Liguori sent the Redemptorists into the villages to announce the Kingdom of God and provide religious instruction.He suffered from the deception of an ambitious cleric. The Eucharist was his strength.He said, “If you desire to find him immediately, see—he is quite close to you.
