August 12 | Keep Placing Your Life Before God

Today’s reading from Psalm 84–86 and Romans 12 invites us to consider what it means to keep placing our lives before God and allowing His presence and Word to shape who we are becoming. Both passages draw our attention toward a life centered on God, where formation happens gradually as our hearts, desires, thoughts, and identity are continually brought before Him.In Psalms 84–86, we encounter the rhythm of people whose hearts continually return toward God. There is longing for His presence, dependence upon His direction, and an awareness that life makes sense when God remains at the center. These Psalms remind us that obedience and identity develop through a steady rhythm of returning, listening, trusting, and allowing our desires to become increasingly aligned with God.In Romans 12, Paul describes that same posture through the language of becoming a living sacrifice. Rather than being pressed into the patterns surrounding us, we are invited to remain open to the renewing work of God within our minds. Our response to God's kindness becomes an ongoing surrender in which we gradually learn to recognize what He desires and allow that understanding to shape the people we are becoming.Together, these passages invite us to reflect on what has been forming us lately and where our attention has been resting. They remind us that discipleship is not simply about a single moment of surrender, but about continuing to place our lives before God with enough openness, awareness, and trust to let Him shape us over time.
