August 14 | Think About Others

Today’s reading from Psalm 89–90 and Romans 14 invites us to reflect on how a life centered on God gradually reshapes the way we see ourselves and the people around us. Across these passages, formation happens as we remember who God is, recognize the limits of our own perspective, and learn to live with a growing awareness that our lives are connected to others.In Psalm 89–90, we encounter the enduring faithfulness of God alongside the brevity and limitations of human life. These psalms create a rhythm of remembrance, humility, and dependence that reminds God’s people that their identity is rooted in Him, not in their ability to control every circumstance or understand everything they experience.In Romans 14, Paul addresses believers who hold different convictions about food and sacred days, and he refuses to allow those differences to become reasons for judgment or contempt. Instead, he calls believers to remember that they belong to the Lord and to become increasingly aware of how their choices, freedoms, and attitudes affect the faith of the people around them.Together, these passages invite us to reflect on the kind of people we are becoming as God forms us over time.
