August 19 | Remember What God Has Done

Today’s reading from Psalms 103–104 and 1 Corinthians 2 invites us to consider how remembering God’s faithfulness and recognizing His work shape us over time. Both passages draw our attention beyond what is immediately visible and help form a deeper awareness of who God is, what He has done, and how His presence continues to shape our understanding. In Psalms 103–104, praise grows out of remembering. David calls his own soul not to forget God’s goodness, and that rhythm reflects something deeply rooted in Israel’s identity. From the Exodus forward, God’s people repeatedly remembered His works through praise, allowing His past faithfulness to shape their trust, obedience, and understanding of who they were as His people. In 1 Corinthians 2, Paul reminds believers that understanding the things of God requires more than human wisdom. The Spirit helps us recognize what God has freely given and forms within us an awareness that cannot be produced simply through intellect or experience. Our response grows from learning to recognize God’s work and allowing His Spirit to shape the way we understand our lives and calling. Together, these passages invite us to reflect on what we remember about God and how those memories are forming us today. They encourage us to notice the ways His past faithfulness continues to speak into present uncertainty, and to consider how remembering, praise, and spiritual awareness gradually deepen our confidence in the God who has remained faithful through every season.
